I didn't know that dress codes even existed in debate

My debate just vetoed us getting blazers for our uniform saying citing the dress codes “Eurocentric” origins and that they are a diverse group of debaters so don’t want to wear “normal” debate attire. We are now looking into getting nike jackets instead :)

Can you explain more what pres/prefing (sp?) is? Not familiar with that.

Why even keep the pref system if it's inequitable?

I’m a totally new debate coach (started two months into this year). During the last tournament students ran a K aff called “wake work” and I literally had/have no idea how to coach my students to respond to this. I just don’t understand how that responds to the “resolved” policy statement. I don’t want to direct students away from Ks but I don’t understand enough to know how to support students in understanding this and similar affs.

Can you please explain what you guys mean when you’re referring to framework? Sorry-new to the debate world as well so still getting familiar with all the vocab terms, etc.
