Peter Shapiro
37:44
Tristia, you are an Awesome explainer !
Kirsten Jewell (she/her)
38:18
The unfortunate side effect is actually public perception towards homelessness getting worse because of the "rock and a hard place" that jurisdictions find themselves without good solutions to address encampments. Thanks for this great info, Tristia!
Christena Coutsoubos
38:33
Tristia, can you provide the case studies in communities that have seen tangible results?

44:16
Hi Jennifer, we are working collectively to ensure that we don’t see a wave of evictions. A big part of this will be what Cruze is talking about with rental assistance. We need additional state and federal funding to meet the true need in WA. More advocacy will likely be needed during the 2021 legislative session and to the Governor between now and January.
Tristia Bauman
45:02
You can read about policy recommendations to protect renters and prevent homelessness at https://nlchp.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/ProtectTenants2018.pdf

Good morning! Liz Mills from Eastside Human Services Forum with a request. We are seeking input on 2021 state legislative priorities via this survey. Please help us by taking it. Only 9 questions! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3KVLXPL

I have a family living in a car and needs assistance refinancing the car. do you have any leads on financial organizations providing refinancing services?
Maureen Howard
56:04
Re refinancing the car - email me - maureenhowardconsulting@gmail.com
John Stovall, He/Him, Housing Alliance
56:21
Shena, what part of the state are you in?
Curt Gray
56:33
@Shena...you might steer them toward Seattle FCU...they have made membership widely available, esp homeless
Liz Mills
56:37
We welcome comments from across the state on the survey!
Maureen Howard
57:40
Re Seattle CU - they do online accounts, will pay the $5 for homeless people, I have details, contact person, etc if you need more info.
Kirsten Jewell (she/her)
01:05:29
Joey - please continue to push for an extension of the time to spend the CARES act funding too!
Curtis Steinhauer
01:06:23
As long as they continue to draw the process out, the cost is going to increase beyond even the HEROES Act.
Kirsten Jewell (she/her)
01:07:48
Also, Joey - do you have any influence/ability to advocate for FEMA to respond better to this national emergency? So far, to my knowledge, zero jurisdictions have actually gotten any FEMA funding for Public Assistance (Quarantine/Isolation or homeless non-congregate sheltering) and FEMA is now saying that they are going to dis-continue pre-approvals for these activities.
Rep. Cindy Ryu
01:08:31
If anyone is interested in a recent list of WA State financial institutions providing alternatives to payday loans, please email me @ cindy.ryu@leg.wa.gov
Kasey Burton
01:08:37
Is there a link that will be sent out that we can share with clients so they can submit their stories?
Kasey Burton
01:10:00
Thank you!
Kirsten Jewell (she/her)
01:13:43
I'm referring to states and counties CARES Act funding. I understand the challenge of advocating for more when we haven't spent the last traunch of funding, but if they are not going to give more funding directly to states/counties then we at least need to able to use this over a longer period of time.
