I would be willing to share my progress and tell you how ready I am to start immediately.
Ronald Rideout, PE

I honestly think I can do this now. I think I can get the financing now. I have the projects and a fully vertically integrated.
Ronald Rideout, PE
40:05
However, I am not completely confident that the land owners are ready to be sustainable and I want to be assured that we are being responsible.

I think that what you are proposing is very good and I look forward to working with an action group if I can provide anything worthwhile.
Ronald Rideout, PE
53:39
I meant to share with everyone. I commend you on your efforts. The parts you are researching and sharing, I have matched your efforts with being a specifying engineer that understands how to build with CLT and glulam. Please reference dirigobse.com
Ronald Rideout, PE
55:30
My research has focused on demand side. I have numerous projects in the works. I have one that is in Bangor, Maine that will showcase what we can do.
Tom Rumpf
58:56
How do you plan to facilitate the transition to higher stocked forests without disrupting current supply chains?
Thomas Worthley
59:12
The mass media?
James Peters
01:00:02
All of these areas need to be addressed.
Frank Lowenstein
01:01:26
@Tom Rumpf-- that's a key question that we're working with researchers at U of Maine Orono. Their going to model out how/if it can work, and hopefully eventually address the incentives or policy support that would be needed to make it work for industrial-scale landowners
Kyle Burdick (He)
01:01:37
Caution should be used when aligning with existing certification systems. They evolve quickly, in different directions, and may become unaligned in principle or by logistics. Especially FSC and AFF.
Frank Lowenstein
01:01:58
@Kyle Burdick-- great point
James Peters
01:02:07
However, I think that support of regional/local production should be the first priority.
Michael Ferrucci
01:05:11
I have worked in certification for 20 years, and know the systems thoroughly. If "sourcing verification" is really a barrier and is identified as a high priority I'm willing to provide my expertise.
nancy patch
01:05:45
I agree locally sourced wood should be apriority. Also a focus on policy in city and state governments to build using CLT/mass timber. Funds form the infrastucture bill might be available,
Ray Lyons
01:13:53
Yes. Ron’s restrictions idea is possible, at least in MA.
Josye Utick
01:14:00
thanks all! I have to hop off for another call. looking forward to follow-ups
Theresa Kerchner
01:15:00
Thanks All at NEFF. - need to head out for a lands committee project.
Michael Ferrucci
01:15:33
It is easier to initially source from the "big woods" of northern Maine. But a big opportunity exists in central and southern New England, in terms of overstocked stands. Being able to sell low-quality wood int 2by4 and 2x6 mills would be a game-changer!
Ronald Rideout, PE
01:16:48
Tell them its type 4 construction. Insurance rates go down
Eric Hansen
01:17:00
We currently have an administration in Washington that has spoken a lot about climate change and the need to do things now. For years there have been government subsidies to make renewable energy a viable industry to reduce carbon footprints (among other reasons). Does anyone know if there is any discussion on the federal level about this being a potential part of a natural solution to climate change as it relates to carbon storage? If not, we should encourage them to put their money where their mouths are.
Ray Lyons
01:18:46
We should talk to MASS Housing.
Ray Lyons
01:21:03
Yes. FYI I represent NEFF.
Eric Hansen
01:21:12
In regard to the "building" section of this effort, I have been told that two of the main themes of what people want buildings to be able to do moving forward is thermal efficiency (passive house standards) and electrification (geothermal etc.). The more we can align wood building with those two aspects of buildings, the more likely it is we'll be able to get peoples' attention!
Ronald Rideout, PE
01:22:56
I want to work together. I am transparent. This is a New England level infrastructure investment to serve the country. I will provide presentations to share my work. I would appreciate the support. My first project is August
Ronald Rideout, PE
01:23:59
Connor and Jennifer, Please share the emails I have sent you that highlight my implementation plan.
