I don't have a hand raise icon but I have a question

01:19:15
Are the Youth from Vietlead continuing their work through the fall, are the gardens being harvested, is there a market?

01:20:11
Hi! I am curious how the vietlead org addresses/ engages in anuo

01:20:15
So impressed by all of the work done by both of these organizations!! Thank you for all that you do!

01:20:28
* in anti-black racism work?

01:20:47
what are some tips for guiding students in exploring how racist legacies effect our modern food system. (i realize this is super broad)

01:20:54
To Tricia: We will continue with the mutual aid food bags :) the food currently harvested goes directly to that program

01:22:17
For vietlead, what programs continue through the school year? So impressed by all of your work and materials!

01:27:40
For Vietlead, one program that is available during the school year is Jersey Roots. Which focuses on political workshops and the farm.

01:28:04
To Xuan-Yen's question re: anti-Blackness: we engage in political education, trainings and solidarity building events/meetings throughout the year, and strive to center/uplift the voices and calls to action of our Black kindred rooted in the belief that our liberation are inseparable. Much of this work involves going back to our roots and understanding our hxstory to know our Selves

01:28:30
thank you!

01:28:34
stand how our country and food system was built on institutionalized racism. We also go through tools—like the 4 I’s of oppression that Hannah talked about. And we also unpack White Supremacy/Anti-Blackness, Capitalism, and Heteropatriarchy

01:28:36
yes, very useful

01:28:45
understand*

01:28:54
@Xuan-Yen’s ?- SOR- SumOurRoots is designed to spend a lot of time on addressing anti blackness within the Southeast Asian Community

01:29:36
Thats why SOR is Southeast Asian specific, to address anti-blackness in our community

01:30:21
Thank you for answering! Wonderful that VietLead does a lot of work unpacking anti-blackness within the SEA community.

01:30:45
We go deep into understanding how anti-blackness stretches back to the colonialism of our countries and continues today

01:34:32
Wow. @Lahn Dinh you're awesome!

01:34:53
^^SHe is!!!!

01:35:31
we will share resources from vietlead and Tobias after webinar also

01:37:14
social media is a great tool and resource. We will share Tobias’ TED talk with folks as well

01:39:29
Good question

01:39:30
great important question

01:39:34
I have to run but thank you to all the speakers! amazing hearing all of your stories <3

01:40:38
I have a question, primarily for Mr. Fox but I welcome inputs from VietLead and Malaika and any others.First, thank you for such an amazing range and breadth of work. It's truly inspirational.I’m not sure if I’m articulating this correctly, please bear with me.I have been wondering about if community agriculture economic initiatives (like the cafe/market/product line) or small plot networks can finance land trusts to integrate with housing justice work?

01:40:39
I have to go now. Thanks to everyone for this opportunity and the questions! <3

01:41:14
Thank you Demitri!!

01:41:14
for the students: What kind of push-back did you face from both other youth and adults? Do you have advice you’d give to other youth getting involved in food justice work?

01:42:21
^^^ I think most of our students had to leave! if you want to privately send me your email I can ask them to share with?

01:45:32
Yes, I'm VERY interested in land trusts and building commons!

01:47:05
It definitely is interesting work trying to navigate the dynamic between co-op work within capitalist societies

01:50:36
This was wonderful,

01:50:45
