26:56
I had many black friends in high school in 88-92 and They always got put in detention

27:03
yes I agree ; It happens to white people too

27:15
He didn't say that white students don't get thrown out of school. He just said that black students are MORE LIKELY to get thrown out of school than white students.

27:28
schools haven’t changed and it’s sickening

28:13
no way

28:47
When I was in middle school, the students had to be sent to alternative school but I've never been suspended or expelled because I've never been in trouble.

28:49

31:52
I was about to be a junior in high school in 1999 when the Columbine Shooting occurred.

33:22
After this presentation, there will be time for questions to be asked.

34:46
the public schools send the students to either psych hospitals/Juvenile Hospital schools &/or Alternative Special Needs Schools because they don’t want to deal with them anymore

35:16
This is Jason Ross

37:38
Are you working on the national level about this issue

37:51
and the schools keep saying they have behaviors when most don’t

39:42
Students probably need to show respect to teachers and the principal involving behavior and discipline issues.

45:40
I agree that students need to show respect with their teachers and the principal.

47:20
I wouldn't say it's all on the students in this situation. Schools need better sensitivity training to handle situations accordingly rather than booting people from class or escalating it beyond that. There has to be a better way. A lot of times, folks didn't grow with access to social/emotional learning so they don't know how to appropriately communicate how they're feeling so they resort to other methods.

48:19
I have to leave at 1:50, I have another meeting at 2

54:03
most of the times the teachers & Principles treat the students unfairly and accuse them of false behaviors & Restraint & Exclude them for behaviors they even have just because they have a Disability

56:14
This is very true

56:22
Especially in Rockland County, NY

57:01
& in the Richmond Area of VA Yes

kely

01:07:31
how do you handle discrimination in a professional yet direct manner?

01:07:44
I live in MN, I would like to get involved in this project

01:08:11
Is it impossible for the school's resource officers to receive sensitive training to handle behavior issues between them and the students?

01:10:08
I don't think it's impossible. We work with the local police department all the time on sensitivity training when interacting with people with disabilities.

01:11:40
Centers for Independent Living here in Virginia do sensitivity training with local police departments.

01:12:10
