Hello from Austin!
Good afternoon everyone from San Antonio
We will send out a recording of this webinar to everyone. We also have step by step instructions and videos located here: https://txla.org/tla-engage/
sorry missed the first part...can we enroll and setup profile now?
The portal opens August 30
Not at this time. You will need to wait until TLA Engage goes live on Monday August 30th to log in and set up your profile.
You'll get an email with instructions on how to log in. And you're welcome :)
While this is just starting and not of pressing concern, is there a plan to archive/delete/leave past discussions?
Will this be the preferred method that committee members should communicate with each other? I have not heard from my committee so curious if I'm just missing messages or something.
How much storage is available in the Library? Is there a plan for using this to replace the shared Google drives currently in use? Or are we keeping shared Google drives?
It's up to your committee how you'd like to communicate
No this is not replacing your Google drives
It is replacing the Lyris listservs
there are important conversations that were stored in the listserves, prior to TLA Engage; those vital conversations will be lost and not added to TLA Engage?
You will be able to upload documents and videos into the TLA Engage library for your group
So no, unless we save the Lyris conversations? Michele, is there a way to save the information from Lyris in a way that can be found?
I would advise saving any conversations that you would like to have for future reference
past conversations that are already in your email will stay there
it's just going forward, future communications will not take place on Lyris after October 1 except for TCAL and TLC
Michele, it feels like any conversations that aren't saved are a loss of powerful historical institutional knowledge for our roundtables/districts that will be lost and previous problem solving efforts will only live with the people that participated in the units at the time that actions were taken
My best guess, Esther, is to screen shot the messages and save them that way, because I am not seeing how those conversations can be saved as a PDF or word doc, for example.
Marie Christopher (Cameron Public Library)
My messages are saved into an appropriate folder in my email by subject.
Past emails that have valuable conversations can be uploaded into the resource library in TLA Engage. If there are emails from Lyris that are valuable it is recommended to save them from your email account and then upload them into the TLA Engage Library within that unit.
Hypothetically, if you have an email that shows the entirety of the conversation chain, you could also print that message to PDF and save the conversation as a single document.
Jaime that is correct.
Is there a direct link to Engage on the TLA webpage?
can TLA ask lyris to archive those conversations?
There will be a direct link on the website starting Monday August 30th
What are the archive plans for Engage or will there be 30 years of conversations provided TLA uses Engage for 30 years?
I may have missed this, but how do “Contacts” work? Do we need to add someone as a contact in order to send them a message?
Can you please show the Advanced Search in the Directory?
It seems that we are using "inbox" in two ways - the Engage Inbox and my email (Outlook) inbox. Will a notification of all messages & discussion posts I receive have a link sent to my Outlook inbox, or will I need to log in to Engage to see all messages & posts?
Thanks for that, Michele
How do I find the chair's name if I don't know it?
We will do further investigation on archiving from Lyris (and the archiving possibilities for TLA Engage) and post it on the TLA Engage page on txla.org
To find the chair's name you will need to go to the members only section and search through the officer database
Carol Seiler (she, her)
by "outlook" mail, do you mean our personal email that is associated with our membership whether it be outlook or gmail, etc?
Correct. Outlook mail= personal email account
My city has a retention policy of 10 years or X amount of space.
Thanks TLA Team!
Will our view be the same as this demonstration or will we be able to enlarge the font size?
I was curious if Engage had something similar.
Marie Christopher (Cameron Public Library)
Have to clock out. Thanks for the information.
Thanks, Wendy, et al.
Thanks to our staff team for all your work to get us moved over to TLA Engage! Can't wait to see all of our members connecting in this new tool!
The view will be the same as was displayed
