Nationwide's EX2020 Session: The Business Model Canvas – The Human-Centered Way - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
Do you use a tool like Miro or Mural?
We use Miro
I love how you use this to help with generative research. A lot of times, it's hard to get funding to even do generative research
The struggle is real, Renee!
It can help demonstrate why that type of deeper qualitative research might be needed in a particular space
Do you have any examples of this in use at nationwide? I would love to see an “active canvas”!
Or just to talk through
How often do you fill this out with the team? Is it just once in the beginning of working at working with a new group or is it a recurring activity?
How do you manage multiple options that you are considering? Do you map on multiple canvases? Or have you put them all on one?
It’s great to see this in the enterprise context, I’ve seen this a lot in the startup arena, but it’s definitely a tool to drive innovation in a continuous integration/design scenario at an enterprise org. “Intrepreneurship”.
I’ve also seen the empathy map to help drive understanding of users and the solution map to suss out pains/gains relationships as the apply to the customer needs.
Do you use this in conjunction with a lean canvas or anything at a lower altitude?
Ruth, maybe put them all on a impact-effort matrix?
Here’s one for Netflix! https://businessmodelanalyst.com/netflix-business-model/
Sometimes you can find filled in examples online: (eg. https://corporatefinanceinstitute.com/resources/knowledge/strategy/business-model-canvas-examples/)
Thanks Kate! This is awesome.
Exactly - how to get strategy into our action streams
I found an interesting article on switching this tool up to have desirability on the left side -> https://kromatic.com/blog/business-model-canvas-for-user-experience/
Thanks for the great presentation!
bye, everyone! Thanks for your participation!
