I’m interested in how to encourage staff to use the EAP and healthcare benefits we offer already...we know folks are in need but access rates haven’t gone up. Also, agree that EAP quality varies...any recommendations for top- quality providers?

How do you deal with the underlying equity issues between FT staff being covered under EAP but PT staff not? We've found our PT team are really struggling and often have increased financial insecurities which are only growing under COVID.
Psychological First Aid is a great place to start. Taking an on-line free course or offering as a part of training to your team to take.
I talked with someone from another zoo who said minor injuries/mistakes at work had skyrocketed since March. A sign that mental and physical health are very much interconnected and something we should be aware of.

So, new for this time, we are requesting a health screening form to be turned in before and after their celebrations, regardless of whether or not they are traveling outside of the metro area. We are encouraging virtual meetings.
I saw something on the local (Baltimore) news last night about people putting up Christmas trees immediately after Halloween, instead of waiting until Thanksgiving.

I think this point Grayson raised re: minor injuries was an excellent one. Important for all to be open to hearing stories of near misses at their facility and creating a culture that makes their employees feel safe communicating these with supervisors
