hi everyone! from Toronto - , one of my most treasured memories is staying with David and Linda - and trying out a few of the "Drizzle" recipes just around the publication date! And was honoured to be part of the zoom celebration of his life .

Thank you Doreen, a beautiful presentation! I’m the editor of Sephardic Horizons, where we reviewed your book a few years ago. I didn’t know David Gitlitz except through his work, but it is a privilege to meet all of you who were his friends.

David was a giant among us. He is a model to all of us because of his true authenticity to listen, share, and care for all persons.
Judith Roumani

I can tell and I wish I had known him!
Merrill Shapiro

I was enriched immensely by knowing David Gitlitz! This happened because of my association with the Society for Crypto-Judaic Studies and attendance at annual conferences. Encourage membership in our Society lest others miss the wonderful opportunities that SCJS affords all of us!
Cengiz Sisman

I did not have an honor to meet David, but he was always an inspiration for me. When I was a phd student, it had always been my dream to write a book like his "Secrecy and Deceit." In fact, I ended up using his book as a model for my book, "The Burden of Silence" on the Ottoman crypto-Jewish Sabbateans/Donmes years later. I am forever grateful to him and his memory.

Being from Jerusalem, without Gitlitz's cook book I would have never known about Jerusalem artichokes. He was a pedantic and thorough researcher, A pleasure to know him. He was one of kind!
Merrill Shapiro

The St. Augustine Jewish Historical Society is grateful for David Gitlitz' help connecting the Carvajals here in Florida 1565-1575 with the Carvajals of Mexico and New Spain.

I was very impressed by what David brought out in his book Secrecy and Deceit, that the crypto Jews were laughing at their torturers. This brought out their immense strength under the horrendous situation of challenge and gave me much comfort
