Michael, really interesting. Have you put anything in place to support staff wellbeing and coordinate internal communication. Eg with staff working potentially very different hours / managing work-life balance.

Here’s the link to the RNID roadmap Michael just referenced: https://rnid.org.uk/roadmap/

I've been really amazed by RNID rebrand, great to see it. I have a question. How do you manage the complexities of the multi-dimension of comms for digital ads. I'm trying to run social media ads that are accessible for Deaf BSL, English and DeafBlind users. Do you tailor your ads to each audience or try to make all the content accessible and try to target wider.

Absolutely fantastic Michael - digital-first terrifies some people though - recommendations about getting buy in? Did you also find people were worried?

Thanks you Michael, sound you've made some amazing headway in digital despite the restructure. What made the leadership prioritise digital when the organisation was reorganising itself?

Our Community Fundraising team at Shelter are usually apart - not all our national team are in London either. So the Regional Community Fundraisers feel like out of it as everyone is around the UK.

@Ana do you always use campaigns to raise funds apart from of course brand awareness?
Michael Wilkinson
51:04
Those results are incredible Anna!

51:31
And @Anna has your supporter base age bracket changed due to digital and are younger supporters also opting into regular giving?.
Abul Hussain
52:12
Question for Anna:Our internal campaigns team are resistant to having a donate ask tagged to an advocacy as - they are nervous that it takes the impact away of the advocacy ask and makes the campaign look like a covert fundraiser. Did you have to navigate any similar challenges?

Hi Abul, we were a bit nervous at first especially as we don’t want to be seen to be making money off an awful situation but the framing is key. We framed the donate asks in relation to the women and children we support and also asking people to help us continue to campaign.
Michael Wilkinson
56:45
Hi Ike, we try to make all of our content accessible to everyone. It’s an important principle for us. That doesn’t mean we can’t segment our audiences in other ways though when running social ads.

Hi Charmaine, we do a mixture of hand raisers, donate campaigns and advocacy campaigns but we will include more than one ask in those campaigns - don’t be afraid of overasking
Michael Wilkinson

Hi Rachael, “digital first” definitely terrifies people. What does it even mean, I hear you ask! We’ve tried to focus our comms on why we are doing it (digital is just a means to an end) and that’s because we need to reach far more people than we did before. Even before the pandemic 49% of over 75s were online and we should be there for them, for example. It’s sharing information like this that allows people to see the possibilities with digital.
