How common are hoary bats; are they more common in certain parts of the state?

We had a lone bat return night after night to a space between our window and a semi-raised screen. I worried because it was alone for the month and a half of so he/she lived here. He/she disappeared in late September. It sounds as though this is perfectly normal behavior???

Thanks for the batcon website. Very useful info. If we put up a bat box, is there any way to decrease the chances of white nose syndrome getting into it? Do you need to clean bat boxes to prevent this?

We live in a wooded, shady area. I understand that bat houses are placed best in sunny spots. Can a bat house be placed in the shade?

Do they eat ticks?
