How can suicide be discussed within the community all while trying to be sensitive to the family. We recently had a high school senior take his own life in a horrific way that of course everyone wants to talk about. People are getting so angry that it is being talked about but I feel that it should be! But also want to be sensitive to the family dealing with this tragic situation.
Riqui Hess
01:21:47
My plan is to start a postvention program in my community and I'm trying to figure out how to start.

Jennifer, the one thing that I tell people is that while we can discuss suicide, that we have to be sensitive to the families wants/needs. We don't discuss specific suicides openly unless the family is okay with it

Regarding psych autop. - so many overdoses are being labeled as a suicide...without a psych autop. - families are left wondering if their loved one died by suicide or accidental overdose
