Hamilton County has had a drop box since 2012, it was added for convenience. Voters loved it especially if they arrived at the BOE 5 or 10 minutes after they closed, and they just drove 30 minutes from their home and just wanted to drop off documents, registration. Or an absentee request form, its not just used for ballots.
Mike Fairchild
33:53
this seems like voter suppression by the gop
Alex Ebert
34:23
OK -- give me an estimate. How % good is this bill? Half-full, 1/3rd full? What are the best parts here that you would support if they were separate stand-alone items. Thanks!
Karen Kasler
34:29
Have you heard about proposals that may be coming in a Senate bill? Rep. Seitz has suggested that it may "go further" and could ban drop boxes, shorten early voting
Mike Fairchild
34:34
how can we make sure that this law doesn't get passed? why would larrose want to do this?
Mike Fairchild
36:11
to me this seems like a lot of hoops for voters to jump through? seems like that the people in charge of the state, the gop want to make it harder to vote?
Alex Ebert
37:26
Game this out if you don't mind -- Are you all not concerned that if you don't support this version that a more restrictive version could get rammed through?
Camille Wimbish
39:47
Online absentee ballot requests would need both a driver's license plus last four of SSN.
Mike Fairchild
41:25
if the election was 98% accurate and LaRose himself said he was happy why is this happening? is it because the GOP lost in most areas especially the senate and the Whitehouse?
Mia Lewis
42:00
There are easy, commonsense ways to improve election in Ohio without making it harder to vote.
Anna Staver
42:31
Would you (anyone on panel) be OK with 10 days for absentee requests by mail and then up until that Saturday in person or should this change just be scrapped?
Mia Lewis
42:47
These are things the SOS and elections officials and voting advocates agree on: more drop boxes, more early vote centers, robust online absentee ballot requests, etc.
Mia Lewis
43:27
Sounds confusing.
Kayla Griffin
46:43
All Voting is Local OH does not support any move that would decrease access to the ballot for any voter
Mike Fairchild
46:51
can we call it what it is? voter suppression. all these rules affect black and brown voters and those who would vote gop?
Mia Lewis
49:29
Plenty of ways to improve elections in Ohio without making it harder to vote!
Karen Kasler
50:14
Rep. Seitz says the timing of this is right because elections officials have been asking for some of these things, and if lawmakers wait too long and get closer to the 2022 election there could be confusion and lawsuits. Are you suspicious of the timing of the introduction of this bill?
JOE MALLORY
54:14
logistically only having 10 days to use a drop box could possibly delay election results on election night because of a crush of ballots that must be processed and added to the totals that night if they are received by 7:30 pm.
Mike Fairchild
54:37
thank you!
Tyler Buchanan
55:10
