01:02:38
Paula - this is a new guide from NIFI

Voting: How Should We Safeguard and Improve Our Election System?

01:05:00
Thank you!

01:05:05
CGA is a really cool looking platform.

01:05:27
The online platform offers a nice opportunity to have that conversation

01:05:38
Is anyone conducting public deliberations around police reforms? If so, would appreciate connecting!

01:06:33
Pat, there is a developing NIF framework on policing (available for testing)

01:07:04
Thank you - how can I get a copy of that?

01:07:28
I am very interested in the policing issues guide as well.

01:07:29
https://www.nifi.org/en/issue-guide/policing

01:07:31
I also would be interested in the policing and willing to be testing option - how do we get access/on the list?

01:07:49
You have to give a name and email, but the pdf is free

01:08:15
Love to see the building of the civic engagement of the younger people.

01:08:18
I am also interested in that and have students who are focused on this issue.

01:08:43
Great - thank you! If anyone would like to connect and discuss this topic - police reforms - please feel free to reach out to me - pepowers@ucdavis.edu

01:09:13
The link for all the guides is here: https://www.nifi.org/en/nifi-materials (including the voting one mentioned earlier)

01:09:26
Thanks for sharing Martin!

01:12:02
Ah thanks Martin!

01:15:14
You can also go directly to https://www.nifi.org/en/with-the-people#!

01:15:56
Is there a moderator guide for online settings?

01:16:04
If a group or organization would like to become a partner in With the People, how do they do that?

01:16:13
How can we get access to the CGA platform?

01:16:41
will Kara be providing some training as she has done in the past

01:16:56
Could we hear a little more about how the Common Ground for Action platform looks and works as a technology?

01:17:01
Thank you.

01:17:07
I am interested in how various conversations using these guides can be connected and reported on.

01:17:09
Any thought about moving evaluations/questionnaires online so we can just link folks to them immediately following an online Forum to ensure greater participation? Sorry if this has already happened. I haven't visited the website recently.

01:17:11
Hi Marieann, email me and I’ll get you set up with a CGA moderator account: kdillard@nifi.rog

01:17:29
*org

01:17:30
Are the new issues (voting, policing) available on the CGA platform? Is there moderator scripts for them?

01:17:48
Re the questionnaires — all are available online.

01:17:51
Kara - is the platform you mentioned the existing one, or is this something new?

01:18:30
thanks, Kara, will do

01:18:31
Working with a community newspaper andCampus Compact on the impact of COVID-19 on the Latinx community in Chatham County, N.C. Any advice on dealing with bilingual initiatives?

01:18:32
Thanks Brad! So they are fillable?

01:18:56
Yes they are online-fillable.

01:19:08
There's a section on CGA at the NIFI site. https://www.nifi.org/en/cga-online-forums

01:19:32
Hi Paula - it’s the same CGA as before. :)

01:19:36
I do highly recommend the CGA as part of a community dialogue mix. I have used it in conversations with high-school students, college students, seniors and a mix. Feedback has been very positive. It works best with small groups though so having a way to report out on emerging themes across groups with another platform for ongoing interaction is useful. Happy to talk with others about mixing tools that are accessible and free.

01:19:59
Kara, how can we get information on the moderator training?

01:20:09
September 29th, 1pm eastern/11 mountain for that online tool event.

01:20:28
@Clare- yes, all of these issues guides are currently in CGA for convening a forum. We’ll also be adding more NIF Historic Decisions guides.

01:21:49
@Kara - thanks

01:22:02
Will a summary sheet with links and access be sent or available for participants on the call? I keep back tracking …to keep a record of it all.

01:22:16
Will there be updates from time to time where we can learn what all the partners are doing?

01:22:54
Spanish translations would be great! Key for our community.

01:23:05
Where do we find that videos on facilitating Zoom forums?

01:23:08
For bilingual sessions you can a) use closed captioning, b) consecutive interpreters

01:23:29
Just to clarify — the new policing guide is a “replacement” for the safety and justice guide from 2017?

01:24:13
Check out the San Diego Deliberative Dialogue Network. We were working on Spanish language guides and moderator recruitment before I left in 2017.

01:24:22
This is not the same, but we do a non-partisan voter guide for our students and community. Our 200-level Spanish students translate this as way to integrate CE in their course.

01:24:28
@Deborah — it is a reframing based on the current state of dialogue in the country. So yes I would say it will be a replacement.

01:24:40
Can Kara Dillard share her email for follow up?

01:24:52
For bilingual - while I have not tried, I was on a training session with MS Teams - they say they can simultaneously translate to 6 languages chosen from among many offered.

01:25:00
kdillard@nifi.org :)

01:25:41
An Army friend and I wrote a civil military “use of force” discussion guide that would be great for CGA and complimentary to all of Kettering’s fantastic work…you can find it here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hp6gnqdFpND6i_jyhYgQJvPw1gi-V1Gwae_ZC_obnwU/edit#

From zoom on language interpretation - https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360034919791-Language-interpretation-in-meetings-and-webinars

01:26:29
If we want to host on our campuses, do we need to make prior arrangements to ensure that students can gain free access to the materials?

01:26:49
Is there a summary of this call available somewhere?

01:27:09
Lots of great links and resources being shared in the chat. It would be great if the chat can be sent out along with the slides. Many thanks.

01:27:51
I am involved with a network of people from the League of Women Voters working on civil discourse. It would be helpful to connect the “With the People” network with that wide national network. The best contact people for this would be: Cheryl Graeve (NICD), Martha Cox (LWVSan Diego), Marieann Shovlin (LWV Santa Clara County), or me (LWV South San Mateo County, California). Very interesting work being done, and lots of good materials. Thank you!

01:29:11
This film is available for free as a tool https://www.dividedwefalltv.org

01:29:13
Please let us know if you’re convening a forum and we’ll include it on the NIF event calendar of forums. Please send to info@nifi.org

01:29:34
