New York's parole system wastes hundreds of millions of tax payers' dollars annually with unfair denials and the needless incarceration of thousands of thousands of people in prison and jails for non-criminal violations of parole conditions with no proven benefit to their rehabilitation or public safety. It is time for lawmakers to put a stop to this incarceration-first approach to parole that devastates individuals, their families and communities. I urge the government and lawmakers to make parole a top priorit during the current 2022 legislative session and beyond. I take this tie to express my support for an array of legislative proposals that can be passed in this legislative session - such as The Fair and timely Parole Act and the elder Parole Act, and other legislative efforts (like the CPL 440.10 Motion Reform Act) that address the most urgent issues in the parole system, including expanding and streamlining the parole process, providing a fair due process to individuals in the parole system,

never reform arguments when NYPD beat a person to death, or assault a woman, or run over human beings, crazy that whenever someone do something tragic that all of a sudden we want to run back to 1994 Crimes Bill mentality or Eric Adams want to stop and frisk when killer cops are never incarcerated or convicted under the same standard when they commit horrific crimes or when correctional officers beat and kill incacerated loved ones

Actually I believe that many legislators (not those attending here!) understand quite well that the current Mass Incarceration Doesn't Work, is Inhumane, not enabling Rehabilitation, etc. and that earning $$$ is more important to them. They and their cronies PROFIT from keeping people in prison, making $$$ from Prison/Slave Labor, Profiting from the exorbitant telephone and commissary rates, etc.

S Rudolph
55:21
May we adopt non-carceral or rehabilitative alteratives for individuals who commit non-criminal parole violations, and more. New York needs to stop being overly reliant on incarceration and onerous supervison. Legislation like The Fair and Timely Parole Act and The Elder Parole Act, like the Less Is More Act can make a meaningful difference, right now in the lives of tens of thousands of New Yorkers. In addition to these bills let us explore every legislative option to rethink parole create a system that promotes fairness and justice, addresses this legacy of racial inequality and mass incarceration, and supports meaningful opportunities for people to success as they ren-enter communities after incarceration. Passing these bills will bring much-needed criminal justice reform to New York and ensure that policies promote safety and fairness. Legislative urgency is the situation NOW to fix a broken, costly and unjust criminal justice system parole system that punishes the poor and communities of color,
