Monthly Board of Directors Meeting - Shared screen with speaker view
Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association
30:45
We will welcome questions in the chat during the presentation.
Nathan Shepherd
32:47
Is there a limit on the period within which these fees have to be spent?
Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association
37:06
Is the $338K in addition to the $264K?
Jerome Evans
41:53
Is there an upper limit to the amount of money that would be appropriate to spend for capital improvement in this case?
Jake Soper
45:29
I had the same question, Candace. One could liken the fact that the lake cannot be used in the summertime to playground equipment that is broken and needs to be replaced.
Kate Gens
46:46
Related to funding, appropriate to the funding question, are the allocated funds determined already? Does it have to go to playground structures for example?
Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association
47:45
Is the Hiawatha Nokomis Master Plan different from the Golf Course Plan?
Carol Dungan
48:53
What’s so frustrating about the lack of funding for lake cleanup is that we’re going to have to do it at some point, and the longer it gets kicked down the road, the more expensive it will be.
Daniel Hooker
50:34
And park dedication funds would increase, or be replenished, if there were additional development in the neighborhood?
Cheryllyne Vaz
50:56
Are you working closely with Sean Connaughty, neighborhood activist, on the Lake Hiawatha cleanup? He is a great individual to advise on the clean up.
Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association
51:08
When would it be optimal for you to get recommendations from the community, in terms of gathering community input?
Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association
52:34
Does it have to be a capital improvement or could some of the money be used to provide free park youth programming to everyone.
Gordon Everest
54:19
How does CIP spending compare to maintenance? I am thinking of the condition of many of the parks courts. Currently their is NO outdoor park in district 5 where playing pickleball is feasible. We are all having to go to St. Paul, Roseville, or Richfield.

Nokomis-Hiawatha Regional Park Master Plan (from March 2015): https://www.minneapolisparks.org/_asset/1dg1fv/nok_hia_masterplan.pdf
Pereyra
56:18
This could also be used for minnehaha creek plan too, right?
Tae Whang
58:24
I believe so, Megan.
Cheryllyne Vaz
01:00:38
Please include a skateboarding park in the plans for neighborhood kids who need it. This is something kids and parents have asked for for years.
Pereyra
01:00:41
Maybe SENA board can review the plans and narrow down the top 5, then get some ranking input?
Tae Whang
01:01:40
I think that's a good idea - it would be helpful to start with understanding what's already in the master plans then go from there.
Pereyra
01:02:24
I agree.
Kate Gens
01:02:51
I think setting up another meeting in the very near future with you, Adam, and the board of SENA would be very helpful
Pereyra
01:03:31
It’s been a long time since I have seen or reviewed the plans. Starting there would be helpful.
Kate Gens
01:03:42
Also George would like to comment, I believe
Tae Whang
01:04:57
Sciid, would you be able to send us the most updated Master Plan's for Minnehaha Creek and Hiawatha-Nokomis so we don't look at old versions we find online? Better yet, if you have an Excel doc with a line-item break down of the improvements.

01:07:28
Tae, the on-line versions are current. We don't have Excel spreadsheets, but each plan has a consolidated list of projects with cost estimates.
Gordon Everest
01:07:34
Section 4 of the Minnehaha Creek plan runs from 28th Avenue to Hiawatha Ave (55). It includes the old 3 tennis courts on 34th Ave and 32nd street off of 46th street. The two on 30th Ave I understand are being abandoned as a court.

01:10:17
We love the current bike skills course as well!
Kate Gens
01:10:45
Agreed!
Tae Whang
01:10:51
Thanks Sciid and Adam for the resources.
Pereyra
01:11:31
Thanks!
Cheryllyne Vaz
01:13:33
What is the name of the summer bike festival/program that Daniel mentioned?
Carol Dungan
01:13:49
Kidical mass
Daniel Hooker
01:13:51
Cheryllyne, we called it Kidical Mass
Cheryllyne Vaz
01:14:21
Thank you.
Daniel Hooker
01:14:26
We haven't done it for 2 years because of COVID. But it's a play on Critical Mass, which is a bike activism group ride thing that happens nationally
Gordon Everest
01:15:41
To Adam and Siciid, can you leave us contact information,, please?

Dropping off - thank you all for your work! Very informative!

I feel the yard signs in the park were helpful in learning about the plans for Lake Hiawatha... maybe something like that
Kate Gens
01:28:58
Siciid, please feel free to drop off print outs. We can post locally.
Pereyra
01:28:58
Sorry all - I have to leave to help wrangle the 2 little kiddos. Marcos needs to go help the third one. I know we have some stuff to vote on so I’ll try to come back.
Brynn.Kasper
01:29:06
Love that!
Carol Dungan
01:29:24
I’m just curious, what are the direct impacts on the adjacent neighborhoods of a name change? Is there an economic cost that I’m not aware of?
Brynn.Kasper
01:29:45
A marriage of physical and digital signage - one QR code/sign that we could update for current events.

So sorry, but I have to go - thank you for the opportunity to speak. Please keep me in mind as you think about the dedication funds in Ericsson. Thanks!

Curious and don't want to get us off topic but... do we have established connections to churches in our neighborhoods to explore those opportunities? (free storage, etc.)
MaryAnn.Rivera
01:57:38
I can do either
