I have two questions: 1) What are some ways you would say we can foster empathy in asynchronous contexts like ours at UOC? My second question is: Could you expand on the idea of appreciative feedback (apologies if I got the phrase wrong) and how we can balance that with students' expectations of the more traditional, corrective types of feedback? I love some of the ideas about gratitude and have done a few similar things in face-to-face classes. our students never physically meet and some of this content may feel quite personal to share; how do you envisage us navigating that?

Our students are often reluctant to engage with collaborative activities in which they have to do things together with others, while we understand such activities as a chance to enhance learning including social aspects, fostering relationships, improving communication etc. I haven't yet found the trick to make learners understand such benefits. What would you do?
