Fine but important distinction - scholars might include fuzzy stats as marshaling of previous studies, but they are meant to cite their origin. Readers of said studies do not always follow the material to their origin, which would help them grasp context, limitations, etc. (I'm thinking especially of journalists here.)

Love this - this is how we can move media away from misinformation. Help journalists understand why prevalence is not best way to understand problem (they are interested in magnitude as news value).

01:56:33
Question - the lack of ability to talk about prevalence in the HT field can be hard to tolerate and tell people/electeds. But aren’t there other fields/crimes/issues where we just cannot know the real scope of it? Like how many undocumented immigrants are in the US for example, really hard to accurately say, just have to accept that we probably won’t be able to know?
