Huh. Agree. Past FM surveys say #1 way people found the market: saw the tents....

Yes, Sarah! Spikeball, we need to play!
Sarah Larsen
04:12:42
I don't think I have played, but I have seen it!

I am sure they will share this later, but FM360 data also showed that word of mouth is a great marketing tool for markets!

I am one of the main vendors as well as co-manager. I try to get all my 'facebook' customers to pickup at the market.. about 1/2 then shop the other vendors. we also try to touch base with each other so we can send them to another booth to get items we don't have

Nice Lori. You need to head to Marshall and eat/drink there?
Lori
04:23:46
Yeah, Mike brought us some of their beer. Need to get there.

We have a "musician-in-residence" who changes words in kids' songs ("Wheels on the Bus") to include farmers' market products--veggies, etc. And he sings it to kids who pass by.

If you're doing photos of the market, do you need to get people to sign a release form to use their photos in your marketing?

For our city market we have a general disclaimer on the website that states you may be photographed at any city event- which includes the market

We got a big boost in FB views and likes when we started being more detailed about which vendors will be at market and the new items they'll bring. Ex. featuring Rodney who starts bringing caramel apples at the end of September, Darla and Mike are bringing horseradish this Saturday, the new batches of honey are being extracted, honeyberries or blueberries are here, Rebecca has a new scone flavor, Ken has a new flush of shiitake mushrooms.

That's a great tip Gail! I will definitely use that in the future :)

That is a challenge for us too, Kim....but then I've noticed myself doing that at other businesses 😆

We did what Gail mentioned, advising what will be at the market and from who. We added nutritional info or a recipe to use with those products.
