One difference in the images is that the ‘black and white’ photo has few, if any, nonwhite kids in it!
Bruno Gioia Sandler (he/his)
08:51:35
could it depend where the picture was taken?
Liza Loop
08:52:38
@Bruno. Certainly it could be place based. But it could also be in the same school district, 70 years apart in time.

Do we need to be careful about labeling a process a “best” practice as compared with “effective” process in a described context. Practices that work really well with one group may be a complete flop with another population.
Bruno Gioia Sandler (he/his)

and project based learning can be used in a really conventional setting while disguised as "innovative" and even "SDE"

I worked for several years in schools without internet. We had hands on learning instead. It was the most creative and innovative experience of my life.
Erin
09:03:55
We have many cultures in North America that do not use technology. The schools are reflective of this.
Liza Loop
09:05:16
But, but, but… lots of kids have internet at home even if they don’t have it at school. Schools can be required to teach everything to everyone. Schools would be greatly enriched by resources from homes.
Liza Loop
09:05:38
that’s schools can’t be required…
Tina Dawson
09:06:17
I think the notion is to be able to communicate online during "crises" first and then for more innovative sharing, perhaps, Erin...I do agree that hands-on is important and spending all our time online is not ;>
Tina Dawson
09:06:33
however, everyone needs access to have options...
Denise
09:07:12
what is regenerative education?
Bruno Gioia Sandler (he/his)
09:08:01
why do you think that not so many teachers (from conventional schools) show up to "alternative education" spaces? comparing the 100.000 teachers that showed up to that event with the number of teachers that join other events for example. could it be an issue of "you don't know what you don't know"? What could we do about it? Improving the communication with the "outside world" maybe?
Barry Chiate

Getting parents engaged in their own children’s education is starting to grow. Have you ever reached out to parents - and let them know they will be the best teachers will ever have? A child will copy everything that a parent will do - so the parents can be a wonderfully effective teachers.

How do we get access to clubhouse and the mastermind on podcasting?
Erin
09:09:11
How do you address digital inequities? It sounds like great ideas for those who can afford technology and schools that can afford tech as well.
Richard Fransham
09:09:17
Agreed Barry.
