For a countdown: reverse numbering…
Pam Aungst
39:13
Top albums / songs you’d want reverse numbering :-)
Alicia St Rose
39:34
@pam yeah! That’s what I was thinking…
Alicia St Rose
40:11
Ah. It was lonely over there! 😆
Pam Aungst
40:18
LOL
Pam Aungst
41:34

Whoops sent to panelists lol sharing again. Block directory is awesome to dig into too! Learn WordPress talk that digs into it nicely: https://learn.wordpress.org/workshop/intro-to-the-block-directory/
Pam Aungst
48:50
So it’s about as useful as the Gallery shortcode :-D
carolyn burke
48:53

Joe Campbell

Joe Campbell
50:20
also adds functionality to make a gallery open in a lightbox
Pam Aungst
50:22
Good question! But please put in Q&A so it doesn’t get missed to ask at the end. :-)
Alicia St Rose
55:25
It depends on the content div width coded in the CSS of the theme.
Pam Aungst
56:24
Yup, but in the admin core has it set to like 560px
Alicia St Rose
57:33
I’m using GeneratePress and I have a wide page.
Pam Aungst
58:15
Interesting. Yeah, I noticed there’s a filter to made adjustments to this, but curious why by default it is so narrow.
Alicia St Rose
59:04
I believe it’s from Theme Twenty Twenty? That’s when I first noticed it.
Alicia St Rose
59:29
Look right now it’s wide for our speaker!
Pam Aungst
59:46
LOL, it is isn’t it :-D
Alicia St Rose
59:56
Different theme.
Alicia St Rose
01:00:17
I build custom themes.
Pam Aungst
01:00:36
So you have adjusted this then too?
Alicia St Rose
01:01:15
I don’t adjust it, it mimics the #content width set by the CSS in the theme.
Anne McCarthy (she/they)
01:01:53
Went digging around the width of the content editing space feeling narrow and turns out it’s a longstanding conversation. To quote a GitHub issue… “default or the current $content_width is the main column (post content) max-width. If both missing: 800px. (800 as this is about as wide as practical for reading. Better to err on the wide side here so images display well.)” For anyone keen to go deep dive: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/5650
Alicia St Rose
01:02:41
Remember how Twenty Twenty had that narrow content area? And yes, 800px or so is recommended for Accessibility.
Alicia St Rose
01:03:34
I always give my left align or right aligned images a max width of 50% in my CSS.
Alicia St Rose
01:04:25
love the reusable Block!!!!
Alicia St Rose
01:04:54
NICE!!!!
Cameron Barrett
01:06:08
I’m glad to see Gutenberg finally maturing. All of these things have been possible in the page builders for a few years now.
Peter Frycki
01:06:20
This is a great block idea. Can't wait to use Reusable block
Alicia St Rose
01:06:40
The Groups block is a time saver, too!
Alicia St Rose
01:07:56
no kidding! So annoying!
Anne McCarthy (she/they)
01:09:50
Of note for full screen mode, there’s a setting now where you can disable that :)
Alicia St Rose
01:10:07
You can turn off native blocks with the Block Manager.
Alicia St Rose
01:10:24
But, the client can turn them back on if you tell them where it is…
Anne McCarthy (she/they)
01:14:42
New design possibly coming to that “list view” too to make it even easier to use! https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/28029
Alicia St Rose
01:15:04
That is great for accessibility, too!
Alicia St Rose
01:16:39
Screenreader depend on it too!!
Anne McCarthy (she/they)
01:18:20
Really liked this recent post comparing elementor and Gutenberg: https://theadminbar.com/damn-gutenberg-smokes-elementor/ Pretty honest take of the whole setup.
Alicia St Rose
01:18:24
Me, too! I have feelings… about the WPbakery…
Mickey Diener
01:18:40
Divi has a block for Gutenberg where you can put a Divi module in a block.
Alicia St Rose
