I use google drive folders, and the students have a lot of trouble with the technical aspect. And the students feel very uncomfortable commenting on each other’s papers. They think only the teacher shouid be doing that.

13:42
Musician?? What instrument? or a band?

13:59
I didn’t know that either!

14:34
Your subconscious has good taste.

14:38
Yes, amazing! How many lives?

Please sign in using above doc

15:57
Yes, I use GoogleDocs and the students upload to their “Student Folder.”

16:18
I can’t see the original question

16:34
What are some particular difficulties/questions/issues that you have when implementing 1101 drafting, peer review, revision, or grading practices for the 1101 Core?

17:08
Yes, Susan Blum did a short presentation at Faculty something recently. It was good.

18:25
I love that phrase. “Active readers of their own work.” I might try to add that to the new 1101 course description

18:52
Yes, Carrie! Love that too.

21:47
I love edpuzzle, and I also love this breakdown of revision for students

22:30
I love “pruning, reshuffling” to express organization.

25:12
Love the idea of a glossary. It’s so appropriate for ELLs.

34:04
Love that you require them to reply/ respond

35:10
This kind of feedback is unbelievable. I’ve never seen it before and I can’t wait to use it.

40:29
I just started having my students write me a note back with the video comments. I want to make sure they’re watching— and I want to know what they got out of it.

47:24
What about using voice memos/MP3s…I’ve done that in an MFA program where I teach for studio visits…

48:06
I use screencast-o-matic

48:26
thanks

52:37
they (CUNY) make us be so granular. Makes the whole UnGrading thing *rough*

52:53
“e-class folder” = ?!

53:50
like private school grading

55:34
stuff like: “Did you do a professional job?” “Did you proofread/get help with presentation and clarity?”“Did you hand this in as/on time…”Did you spend time on this

57:12
How great that they felt comfortable enough with you to have that discussion

57:35
^^

Thank you also, Rob, for organizing Lucas’s talk!

This is some of what I posted last week--in my weekly announcement. I think it's related to what you were saying, Lucas. Some of the students who hadn't engaged in peer review did so after I posted this: I have read all the first drafts of Formal Essay 1 and was very pleased with them. They were all good and interesting, and some of them were actually outstanding. However, I wanted to point out that not all of you posted your drafts to your Group Discussion Boards. If you haven't, you should still do so. Also please review at least one draft posted by a classmate when you get a chance. The final draft of Formal Essay 1 is due on March 3, so every one of you can still use feedback. In addition, peer review is an essential part of the writing process; it benefits not only the person whose work has been reviewed but also the reviewer himself or herself.
