We need to DEVISE DIFFERENT STRATEGIES for the DIFFERENT CONSTITUENCIES who want to destroy trust in public institutions. To do that, let's ask ourselves, "WHO BENEFITS FROM DESTROYING TRUST IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS?" Examples: (1) The gun lobby. (2) People who want to replace "the rule of law" with "the law of the jungle." (3) People who do NOT want the gov't to perform useful functions (e.g., to regulate business, to protect the environment, to protect vulnerable people). (4) People who are so angry that they just want to destroy everything and "burn it all down." We need to DEVISE DIFFERENT STRATEGIES for EACH of these constituencies.

A lot of Trump supporters are those people who have their own agendas. pro-gun, anti-abortion, too big government, single issue voters with an axe to grid. WA State mandated 1 credit civics to graduate from high school. 4 years later, it still is not funded.

@Linda, public education no longer funds civics. Looks like it's up to us.

In WA the OSPI has approved Civics education curriculum for elementary, middle and high school grades. It is important to talk to the schools in your district to see if they are teaching. You can get the books from the LOWV if you would like to volunteer to teach a lesson/ be a guest speaker.

I grew up in a small town in PA, where many steel jobs were lost in my childhood. Many who voted for Obama, voted for Trump for reasons I understand. For that, I blame the Dems for not having better policies to earn their votes. Millions lost their homes When Biden/Obama bailed out Wall Street in 2008.

People who care about racial justice are "awake," and the blatant racists are converting that to the term "woke," so their opposition to racial justice became simply a mindless war on being "woke," but they do not want a serious conversation about racial justice issues -- and they do not want people to examine their consciences or their upbringings or their privileges. They just promote fear-mongering and racism against those of us who are "woke."
