Prayer gives us the opportunity to participate in the story of redemption. Prayer restores LIFE. Somehow, despite our reverence and recitation of prayer, nothing changes in this reality. Sadly, most of the earth’s inhabitants no longer pray. Yet, our very LIFE and SALVATION depend on prayer. Hence, recitation of words accomplishes nothing. Through his cross and resurrection, our Lord teaches us that prayer is made up of both action and speech. When there is no action, empty words are not prayer. Prayer should be offered with proper direction of consciousness. As we forget worldly knowledge, we move to the Tree of Life reality where everything is connected through Christ: a Communion of Saints

Let Us Pray Come Holy Spirit. Give us the courage to announce and witness. Fill us with your presence and your strength, with your courage and your grace. Make us understand that today God continues to call us. Help us serve by living it in communion and solidarity. Holy Spirit, awaken us, consecrate us, send us.

Psalm 103 Bless the LORD, my soul; all my being, bless his holy name! R. Alleluia. Bless the LORD, my soul; and do not forget all his gifts, Who pardons all your sins and heals all your ills? Who redeems your life and crowns you with mercy and compassion? Who fills your days with good things, so your youth is renewed like the eagle’s? R. Alleluia. The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Bless the LORD, all you his angels, you mighty in strength, who do his bidding. R. Alleluia.

A Reading from the Gospel of Matthew 20:29-34 As they left Jericho, a great crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, “Lord, Son of David, have pity on us!” The crowd warned them to be silent, but they called out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have pity on us!” Jesus stopped and called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” They answered him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” Moved with pity, Jesus touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight, and followed him.
