Happy New Year!

34:34
Love the accountability Lauren

36:04
I have to hop off beautiful ones, but so happy to hear all your lovely voices as I hop on another meeting. Have an AWEsome day!

Love a good systems change theory!!

51:53
Dominque, it's not a meeting with you unless there is a systems model! You are the best.

56:49
Check this out as well re: Milwaukee Segregation, written by Dominique: https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2020/08/23/op-ed-why-milwaukee-is-so-segregated/

57:27
"Every culture begins as a counterculture"--appreciate that view point, thank you!

57:36
^yes!

59:54
As a transplant, I have experienced the hesitancy of native Milwaukeeans to accept outsiders. From my perspective that hesitancy manifests differently across racial/ethnic lines, but it seems to be a common characteristic.

01:01:29
Such a good question, Lauren! Really curious

01:01:50
I am a transplant to MKE as well. I have lived here a long time now but I still find it that it can be difficult to connect with the "natives to Milwaukee" -- even as a white person.

01:01:51
Agree, Paula

01:02:03
Thanks, CB!

01:02:51
I'm a Milwaukeean and am saddened to hear it's difficult with transplants to connect with others.

01:02:53
I really like that concept--that online works great for pursuing interests in community, but that in-person community, including at work, has a different purpose for individual/communal well-being. Always learn something from you, Dominique.

01:03:25
Thank you, Tricia. :)

01:05:10
I miss the hallway chats.

01:05:34
Your comments remind me of this article Jeremy https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2021/01/pandemic-goodbye-casual-friends/617839/

01:06:05
I am appreciating that authentic connection requires the ability to be both aware of and to name our emotions. I'd like to suggest Brene Brown's book; Atlas of the Heart, is an incredible resource . We need to learn the language in order to connect and create belonging.

01:06:41
Thank you for these recommendations - totally agree, Karen

01:07:58
Karen-I have really enjoyed atlas of the heart and how she formatted the book

01:09:18
Exchange of knowledge and experiences

01:10:33
Yes! That is a great article, Paula.

01:12:55
Domique, I love your inspiration and commitment. Thank you!

01:13:09
Thank you Karen. :)

01:13:29
Ditto Karen's comment!!

01:15:11
Sounds like high school. Freshman year is exciting. Junior year is full of excitement (some anxiety about the nearing end). Senior year marks the end and start of something new. Sophomore is MEH! It’s kinda like 6th grade.

01:16:36
Paula, as someone currently living with two 6th graders, I can add that 6th grade is full of all kinds of DRAMA. :)

01:18:02
I love that, Jeremy - there is always room to bring more friends in!

01:18:14
Katie, 6th grade was useless over 50 years. Seems like is a review of 1st thru 5th grades in prep for 7th grade. BORING!

01:18:41
Great presentation!

01:19:13
Great presentation and love all the reading suggestions in the chat.

01:19:45
Simplest form- expand and prioritize your friendship

01:20:54
YES! So many hallway convos aren't happening because of the pandemic. Being deliberate right now is so important because of that

01:21:40
Great question Milika

01:21:53
My daily work life is constant zoom meetings. I'm too exhausted to do more of it at the end of the day. Agree Malika!

01:22:05
This definitely resonates

01:22:17
yes, @betsy

01:22:34
I like to have walks with friends. Even in the winter.

01:22:58
Yes, Pam...time hiking or skiing. Activities that we love to bring us together.

01:23:39
“How we show up” reading recommendation

01:23:41
Agree, Betsy!

01:23:53
Interesting!

01:23:54
Love that idea of a hike with someone new each week!

01:24:18
I love that Jeremy!
