Angela the video is smooth for me, but everyone has their own internet that might be different
Julie Bogart
21:02
Often it will clear up. I am not seeing them on my end, though.
Jeanne
22:45
No worries Tanya. You are muted!
Julie Bogart
24:01
Our students often look forward to sharing their writing, in fact.
Julie Bogart
26:02
All the activity in class is written.
Julie Bogart
26:25
Q: So, all the students see the other students writing? That is part of the process? A: Yes all students see all student writing AND all instructor feedback on the writing.
Julie Bogart
26:39
It’s powerful! We see so much growth!!
Allison Brown
26:55
Is the Brave Writer 101 class just for parents or do you also have a child do it with the parent?
Jeanne
26:55
Our classes are taught by professional WRITERS
Maribeth Bousum
27:24
This, the professional writer approach, is what I love most about the whole BW program
Jeanne
28:29
Allison, 101 helps the parents learn to coach their kids. They will talk more about it!

31:08
Brave Writer 101 was previously called Writers Jungle Online
Julie Bogart
31:21
The best part of 101 is that YOU will learn how to coach your child. You get to ask questions of the instructor about your child and you will see the instructor model for you how to engage your writer, even reluctant ones.

h t
32:51
apologies!
Julie Bogart
33:02
A: You can use the manual independently or you can take the class! Many people do both. :)
Julie Bogart
33:13
ht: no worries! Glad you’ve got it now!
Jeanne
33:15
Yes, Brave Writer 101 is the former Writers Jungle Online.
Jennifer Denham
33:22
Thank you
Kelly Bikurgurl
33:23
SO happy to see 102!
Julie Bogart
33:39
Kelly, it’s so good!
Maribeth Bousum
33:41
Do parents tend to set aside The Arrow and Partnership projects if they enroll in 101?
Jess
33:47
would doing 101 and arrow be too much work for 9 year old
Julie Bogart
33:49
YES! Great question Maribeth.
Julie Bogart
34:03
Focus on the class when you are in it. We suggest that right at the beginning of class.
Maribeth Bousum
34:10
Great, thanks
Julie Bogart
34:28
The class only lasts 6 weeks so you take those 6 weeks for class and then return to Arrow and Partnership Writing.
Jessica Smith
34:29
As a parent doing brave writer 101, Is this class (for the parent) what we need to take our kids through 6 week writing "Curriculum" or do you also need to purchase a writing curriculum to go along with it?
Julie Bogart
34:53
Everything is included in the class. No extra purchase necessary
Jess
35:03
got it thanks!
Julie Bogart
35:08
Yes!
Julie Bogart
35:29
We train our coaches to be able to help with language challenges.
Julie Bogart
35:36
Dyslexia, dysgraphia etc.
Julie Bogart
35:53
With original writing, we focus on content and expression. We do not focus on the act of reading or handwriting.
Julie Bogart
36:17
Or even spelling. You’ll see. It all works beautifully with challenged learners.
Tami Wall
36:19
That’s great! One of my kids has dysgraphia and ADHD and is going into 9th grade but is way below grade level and hates wiring and reading...
Julie Bogart
36:38
Here’s how it works:
Julie Bogart
37:12
You pay for each individual class (the classes are not free). But the Brave Learner Home (a membership in our homeschool community and support included there) is free with a class registration over $198.00
h t
37:18
Are book clubs and movie clubs are non-video as well?
Julie Bogart
37:27
All of our classes are non video
Julie Bogart
38:46
For those trying to understand the special offer of registration purchase that gives you the Brave Learner Home, please read the details here: https://store.bravewriter.com/collections/special-offers

we’ve taken several courses and each one offers so much treasure. We have also participated in Arrow! We love Brave Writer and may be a bit fanatical😂
Julie Bogart
39:01
Thank you Sky!
Sky Sanchez
39:12
♥️Julie
Julie Bogart
39:23
I love the idea of starting with Story Switcheroo or Telling Tales with both kids!
Julie Bogart
39:25
Great idea!
Julie Bogart
39:43
Book Clubs are separate registration and we don’t have them for Dart level. Kids are too young.

41:02
I have an 11 year old rising middle schooler. Would you still recommend starting with BW 101 or should we dive into one of the middle school classes?
Julie Bogart
41:02
Aw feeling the love!! :)
M D
41:22
how long is each class session? does they require good typing skills for independent classes?
Noelle Brandaw
41:25
I am also torn between BW 101 or Middle School Writing!
Julie Bogart
41:39
Jennifer, you can do either, but 101 is wonderful if you want to be a part of the experience. If your child is already a comfortable writer, try Middle School Writing.
Julie Bogart
41:57
You can certainly do 101 and THEN Middle School Writing in the next semester!
Julie Bogart
42:09
(Or later in the same semester)
Jeanne
42:10
M D, the classes are asynchronous, meaning you work when you want for however long you want

Becky, have you taken The Writer’s Jungle? We have it in the binder but I’d love a group. Wondering if charter pays for that course. It is also for student, correct? @Julie too.
Julie Bogart
43:05
Charter Schools pay for our classes all the time.
Julie Bogart
43:20
Yes, the child is the student with the parent.
Julie Bogart
43:26
We enroll both parent and child.
Jessica Smith
44:04
With 101 you enroll both parent and child?
Sky Sanchez
44:11
Thanks Julie! Ours has paid for them but wasn’t sure if they counted it only as parent as student (they wouldn’t pay for that😢)
Julie Bogart
44:12
Right! You’re in the class together.
Sky Sanchez
44:22
YES!!!!
Jennifer Pac
44:23
Thank you Julie. I think we will start with BW 101- esp as I can participate with my 9 year old as well. I own writers jungle but haven’t been good at going through it solo so the class will help us jump start. Then we can try some of the fun theme classes in the spring ; )
Julie Bogart
44:36
If you have questions about how to get the charter school to pay, contact us at charter@bravewriter.com
Sky Sanchez
44:38
Same, Julie!!!!
Karrie Jamison
44:47
What state are you in that charter pays for classes?
Julie Bogart
44:51
Jennifer: that’s an excellent strategy.
Sky Sanchez
45:03
I meant @Jennifer💛
Julie Bogart
45:08
California, Oregon and Canada have paid for classes through charter schools.
Sky Sanchez
45:09
California

Sky Sanchez

We have four classes ready to go in our cart since you sent class schedule💛
Julie Bogart
46:09
The book clubs focus on discussion, not the content of the Arrow itself.
Becky Czerwonka
46:21
Sky, yes, we have taken WJ online last semester and I have the binder. PM me later thru the NHA group and we'll figure out your idea :)
Julie Bogart

All I know is I wish I had been taught through the Brave Writer Program when I was growing up. Would've changed everything! :) These kiddos are so fortunate to have such a delightful and encouraging environment to grow their writing voices! Thank you Julie and everyone else on the team! We've been working through the program for 2 years and have yet to try an online class. This webinar is getting me so excited to take that leap and try one!!!
Julie Bogart
48:01
Kristin! :) Thank you!!
Jennifer Denham
48:08
Me too Kristin!
Julie Bogart
48:22
Thank you Jennifer!
Sky Sanchez
48:39
Oh I know it’s not new but it no longer has The Wand, so I’m wondering if the books would be too advanced? We read a lot of advanced books (all in fact but want to make sure he’s good there in that level).
Sky Sanchez
48:58
Thank you, Julie!
Jessica Smith
49:22
So- I'm still kind of confused about how it all works. (Sorry!!! Y'all are doing a great job) Just as an example to kind of nail it down in my mind.
Jeanne
49:46
Feel free to ask more questions, Jessica!
Jeanne
50:09
You can also email Help@bravewriter.com if you have questions after
Kelly Bikurgurl
50:20
After the two expository essay classes, do you then rec. the SAT prep?
Jessica Smith
50:24
I could do 101 with my 9 year old as mine (and his) writing program for the beginning of the year. Then "supplement" later with things like arrow, etc.
Sarah Graham
50:34
Our family loves incorporating Arrow program into our homeschool for the 6, 9, and 11 year old homeschoolers. We will be missing our monthly book parties with other homeschoolers in our area this year due to COVID. Do you have any plans for offering anything online in a video type platform for kiddos?
Jeanne
50:38
And here’s our AQ for Online Classeshttps://bravewriter.com/program/online-classes/class-registration-help
Julie Bogart
50:41
Oh Sky! You meant the bundle. Sorry! Yes, the Dart is a little more advanced than the Wand, but still powerful read aloud and you can do as much of it as you like with your children, even orally!
Julie Bogart
51:04
Jessica: Yes! (I could do 101 with my 9 year old as mine (and his) writing program for the beginning of the year. Then "supplement" later with things like arrow, etc.)
Julie Bogart
51:26
Nissa, right! I mean, you can have two different students overlap, but not a single student and not you.
Sky Sanchez
51:26
Great plan, Jessica Smith!
Amanda Smith
51:28
We have many ages and grade levels in our house, our oldest has completed public school grade 5 but he is a very reluctant writer. New to Brave Writer. Would he benefit from doing Story Switcheroo/Telling tales with the family as an intro or would that be too young for him?
Sky Sanchez
51:44
Thars mt
Kelly Bikurgurl
51:45
SO fast!!
Sky Sanchez
52:06
That’s my plan, Julie! Thank you.
Julie Bogart
52:07
For grade 5, I recommend BW 101. But it’s fine to start with Story Switcheroo, it’s just that it is not oriented to writing in the same way. It is more a “jot it down” style class.
Julie Bogart
52:31
Book Club every month would make it difficult to also take a writing class. I would skip a book club the month you want to take a class.
Julie Bogart
52:58
I think it’s not a good idea to take ALL TEN book clubs! That’s a lot of engagement to sustain for an entire year.
Julie Bogart
53:03
Great sky!
Jamie Gray
53:26
So, for the 101 class, are there writing assignments that line up with each chapter? How is the parent the student as well? I have read the Writers Jungle but I am wondering if we need to do the online class too.
Julie Bogart
53:28
Woo hoo~
Jennifer Denham
54:07
I have both my 9 year old and 10 year old in the jungle online now. My 10 year old has DS and struggles with communication and the act of writing. So far, TWJO has been a little too challenging for my 10 year old. I didn’t know about Switcheroo and Tales, but maybe those are better choices for him?
Julie Bogart
54:10
Jamie, come without feeling any pressure to prepare. You will see. The activities are collaborative with your kids and you will have the instructor to ask questions to if you have them.
Julie Bogart

Julie Bogart
55:15
You could do 101 with both kids, yes. Or just enroll the older one (10 year old) and then just do the same activities with the 8 year old at home without paying. :)
Jennifer Denham
55:24
Jamie, I’m taking BW101 right now with 2 kids. My 9 year old is doing well in it. It has so far been a great class to start in.
Julie Bogart
55:34
To me, that way you won’t feel pressure to make the 8 year old write.
