We will open up to questions shortly. If you have one, please post here.
One of the topics I've heard come up is how to continue to support and sustain long term, overall wellness for not only children, but the caregivers supporting families...are there recommendations to sustain mental and physical wellness?
That statement was so valuable "It's our job to be ready for your child. Take them where they are." THANK YOU!
What are the expectations of providers in the classroom? Masks? social distancing? and if there are COVID requeirments how to maintain our humanity? provide love and compassion. What will free play look like? Will children be asked not to share personal space with others?
Thanks for saying this and recognizing white privilege , David!
Would someone speak with regards to wearing masks and co-regulating, teaching emotions to young children in schools, please?
Can you please speak to ways to reduce the social-emotional impacts of mask-wearing?
it takes a village to raise a child
Conscious Discipline offers great social stories about mask wearing, corona virus info at a basic level. They have free resources right now.
Normalizing for babies??? Maybe 3 year olds….
We are doing that this week in my district!
There are social stories on mask wearing on teachers pay teachers for free
I think where I am coming from is I’ve had families say that their children are losing ground with speech development, emotional development. Our very young children look at our face and mouths to learn how to communicate.
Donna Bailey, totally agree. I think it's going to be scary
I agree Donna
yes. there are social stories for masks and you can create one yourself:)
I've been working on asking the deeper questions & alternative to asking "How are you?"- https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2020/04/should-i-still-say-how-are-you-during-a-pandemic/610639/ I've found it an alternative strategy for the imbalance of trauma Dave spoke abou
We have masks made with clear piece over mouth - taken from hard of hearing sites….
You can make mask wearing fun. Make it a game. Peek a boo or am I smiling, frowning, sad, etc.
FOR INFANTS different than older kids
And I would disagree Some children need a softer touch than gross body language expression
Dnbailey, can you share where you ordered clear mouth area masks from?

Centers are doing it. It can be done. Having a positive outlook on this situation will make a huge difference.
I really like the idea of being able to see even a part of the face through the mask
ClearMask on line. there are several choices
Do you guys email the training hours to us?
Is the email address .com or .org ???
Thanks Valerie for that info re Mask
It' s inhuman to wear a mask with a young child. I struggle with the message. "Who is sick? The child or the provider?"
thank you for sharing
thanks so much! be well.
Thank you so much!!!
thank you all
Thank you for this forum. It's been ver interesting
Thank You so much! Appreciate the sharing
As a provider it's hard to homeschool the children in my care and watch the little ones, so it is a high stress situation. I have been advised by cdd that it's not my job to homeschool, it's the parents. But when this first started an essential parent was working so they certainly could not be there for the kids online meetings. So I ended up doing it. Couldn't say no for a number of reasons. I am dreading Fall and homeschooling. Do I say no to homeschooling in the fall? If I do that it doesn't feel like I am supporting the family. Seems like there is no answer that is best for everyone.
How can we support kids in P.E. classes. They want to play together which normally they would shre equipment. Kids ffrustrated about this.
Thanks so much! Great topic and lots of helpful information.
