Next video? How to select a tree for: next to buildings, under lines, etc. Do we have a list of recommended trees for different areas and applications?

38:43
Forestry has a list of recommended trees sorted by mature size class. It does not go into detail on specific site qualities.

42:02
I am interested and concerned about preservation of our mature trees. How is a tree defined as being “hazardous”? Is there a way that this process of cutting down older trees can be slowed and/or reviewed?

42:02
I am very impressed with the progress the City has made to date. With the City Forester position vacant, I was not expecting so much to be happening already. Excellent work team!

49:09
EXACTLY

50:47
Public Utilities posts signs at water main breaks, when maintenance is pending. perhaps that is a model the City can replicate

51:22
Agreed Paul- its not reinventing any wheel

52:37
Austin, TX has a permit request for any tree over 19 inches around.

52:42
Great ideas, Mr. Wilkos!!

53:12
Thank you, Michael Wilkos! All that!

53:21
Even our neighbors in Bexley have good systems in place

56:30
Could Mr. Wilkos share that letter/list of ideas that the University District has written up?

57:52
Is it possible to have a pdf of the presentation? I am not able to write fast enough :)

01:00:37
Just added the UAC letter with 4 suggestions/requests in the chat. Thank you for requesting in MDavid.

on data collection: curious if technology has advanced (LIDAR ?) in ways that the canopy and tree types can be identified...which may not be as granular as arborists on the ground, but would fill data gaps “well enough” to direct limited resources to maximize the canopy development

01:01:39
Thanks!!

01:02:15
We will follow up with a PDF of the slides after the meeting! Thanks!

A fund needs to be created to help low-income people care for their big, old trees/subsidize their care...

Simply Living, a sustainability nonprofit in Columbus, would like to be part of a coalition as well.

01:57:36
Keep in mind your time is theoretically city/municipal $$… your entities will likely have different opinions on this. As a federal employee I imagine the feds don't want 'obligate' themselves for any efforts for fear of legal reprisal.

01:59:16
We do need any coalition to be representative of the communities it represents

01:59:37
great point Claus

02:00:26
Thanks for the update Rachel.

02:01:51
Jean's example of organizing residents in Weinland Park included a diversity of residents at both an in person meeting as well as creating an online format for engagement. Often the burden of responsibility falls on community groups to make sure they include those voices - it takes time and effort and a more systemic equitable engagement tool would welcome.

Offer to area commissioners in N and S Linden and Hilltop: we would like to talk to you about our tree nurseries for tree giveaways in 2022

02:02:28
I need to go to another meeting but I am definitely interested and would even go so far as to say I will set up a meeting? Any thoughts about time of day/day of the week preferences?
