Those reporting periods are located on the calendar pdfs and on our website
freds
41:05
do we need to open 2 separate accounts for primary and general?
Mangan, Jeff
43:23
Legislative candidate no, with stipulations, all other candidates yes if you have a contested primary
Kathy
45:03
If you have nothing to report, do you still need to file a blank c-5?
Mangan, Jeff
45:12
yes
Mangan, Jeff
45:50
unless you are a 'B' box county candidate
Ken Walsh
45:59
The calendar on the website states the first reporting date is April 5th (contributions/expenses thru 3/31)?
Mangan, Jeff
47:56
Those are for 2021 or prior candidates who have open campaign accts
Laura Hughes
51:00
online donation question
Mangan, Jeff
51:39
will be hitting that topic here in a minute
Laura Hughes
51:47
candidate pays for paypal fee, so those get entered as an expense for that donation or a total batch fee?
Jennifer Boyer
51:51
what if they just say consultant and you don’t know them personally and do not know if it is IT or financial etc.
Laura Hughes
52:01
ok
Mangan, Jeff
52:48
Ask, update when you can
Jennifer Boyer
55:09
what if you refund through PayPal and never get the funds in your bank account?
Bart S
59:09
Does EVERYONE working on the campaign have to report the hours worked and a value for those hours as in kind contribution?
freds
01:00:14
At the end odf the campaign what do you dowith a balance left in your account.
Kathleen Burt
01:01:24
If you have a pass-the-hat type of fundraiser, how are you supposed to determine if someone has contributed over $50?
freds
01:01:31
If we have to open a new account at the end of the primary, can you transfer the balance to the new account?
Brooke

Brenda Croff
01:11:23
Do you need to keep records of how you value in-kind contributions?
Mangan, Jeff
01:12:04

Brenda Croff
01:12:22

Mangan, Jeff
01:13:28
you're welcome :)
Tracy
01:14:48
So, any interest earned in bank account is reported in the Refunds tab? Its not mentioned so double checking.
Mangan, Jeff
01:14:59
yes
Bettijo Starr
01:18:30
When someone gives $10 in a fundraiser, then later gives $50, since the $10 was added as an aggregate, do we report $60 for the individual
Tracy
01:19:05
What you are explaining is why I do not understand reporting a fundraiser as a mass contribution—seems easier to separate them out from the beginning. So confusing otherwise.
Tracy
01:21:15
👍
Teresa Vaughn -- Fergus High
01:21:40
are you going to go over contribution limit amounts?
Jennifer Boyer
01:22:51
what if that over payment is through online?
Jennifer Boyer
01:23:09
and you never have the refund through your bank acct
Cook, Scott
01:24:14
Jennifer- thanks for the question. Like any other contribution, the candidate would need to deposit the full contribution in their campaign account. Any overage would then be refunded to the contributor, reported as an expenditure
Brandon Carpenter
01:24:17
Do you report a purchase of a tank of gas for on the ground campaigning?
Kathleen Burt
01:24:18
If you have a contested primary and get more than $400 from an individual, can you set aside the overage in a separate savings account instead of refunding?
Cook, Scott
01:25:14
Kathleen, the candidate could accept Primary and General contributions if participating in a contested Primary. Could not accept any Primary election contributions that exceed the relevant limit- those would have to be returned
Brandon Carpenter
01:39:25
If you repurpose items to make signs for example that you already own, do you need to disclose that/
Brandon Carpenter
01:40:48
you did. thanks
Nancy Dynneson
01:55:03
Still a little confused on the separate "accounts" for Primary vs General. Do you mean "file reports" as separate accounts, or physically close an account after the primary and open a new one. I understand tracking contributions separately.
Cook, Scott
01:56:07
Nancy- thanks for the question. BY accounts we mean separate bank/depository accounts are needed for primary and general activity. ALL activity that occurs during the reporting period (primary and general) needs to be reported on your C-5
Cook, Scott
01:56:49
So the actual funds would be separated, but all reported on a single C-5
Teresa Vaughn -- Fergus High
02:00:35
what exactly does an attribution have to say
Bettijo Starr
02:00:39
Is the bank statement adequate for cost of checks ordered through the bank
Mangan, Jeff
02:01:13

Very helpful session. I am now not afraid to make a mistake. Thanks so much.
Kathleen Burt
02:05:02
Up till now we filed quarterly. Beginning March 15th, we must file monthly; is that correct? I think that’s what I’m understanding, but just want to be certain
Kathleen Burt
02:06:32
