Kitchen pail composting has been used very effectively in Toronto for many years. I've been doing it with my own container for 5 or 6 years. Leave it on the deck during the week because of smells and learned to have a sealed top to keep the raccoons out!

When a NC uses the saem ZOOM ID for each monthly meeting, and the host mistakenly kicks a stakeholder out the NC monthly ***from that point forward, whwnever the staekeholder tires to sign on to a monthly neeting, that stakeholder can NEVER USE THE EMAIL THEY HAD USED WHEN THE HOST REMVED THEM FROM THE MEETING. I am in total support of continuing Zoom meetings for all City authorized meetings. There will be people that will not be able to attend any gatherings in the wake of the pandemic - those who may be allergic to the vaccination or choose not to take it for other purposes, people who have childcare issues that preclude them from attending, etc. Also, think of the time and carbon pollution saved by not attending meetings physically.

Cindy Cleghorn-Sunland-TujungaNC/NCCongress/PlanCheckNC
01:54:24
The NC could establish their own policies. Some like promote their council persons and follow them around, promoting them. NCs are independent and there needs to be a balance as NCs funding should not be used to promote the work of the Councilpersons unless it includes working together with the NC or realizing an initiative / issue that the NC has worked on for years and finally comes to fruition. Example: traffic signals that the NC has advocated for years.

We need guidelines, not mandates. We are independent deliberative bodies. It is up to us, with SUPPORT from DONE and BONC, to make sure we stay out of hot water.
Cindy Cleghorn-Sunland-TujungaNC/NCCongress/PlanCheckNC
02:10:03
Yes, Rachael — I think guidelines would be good. How about a presentation from NCs that have social media activities that show results / data ?
Liz Amsden
02:10:05
It seems like overkill. NC board members are volunteers and not paid. Why not have general provisions, and pass problems on to the paid folk at DONE and the City Attorney's office. And they need to act on them instead of allowing more goats :)

We had a board member resign because of the negative comments by the attendees but he thought it was the board members. You might think he’s being too sensitive and he needs to toughen up. Maybe he doesn’t come from a background of people who are mean and nasty, using vulgar language etc. But he goes away thinking its the board / its members and board members have do something to correct it. You can only repeat, we must maintain decorum so many times. And….those who are not so sensitive let it roll off like water on a duck’s back.
Lauren Buisson EPNC (she/they)
02:20:59
I'd urge all advocating for free reign for NCs to consider the harm done by bad actors on Boards towards fellow members and to the public. Not all NCs behave, and certainl y not all members. Most recently this involved the bullying of a trans youth member by a fellow board member. Permitting this to continue is unacceptable. Enforceable actions must play a part in staunching bigotry of all kinds. Toothless policies are not remedies.
David Uebersax: Winnetka NC President and LANCC Voice Chair
02:23:16
I agree Cindy. We got agitator recently, and I need to assuage new Board Members that even thick skin isn't good if we brush off the underlying validity of those choosing abusive tactics. That's where we need to provide mentorship and support to the aggrieved BM.
Cindy Cleghorn-Sunland-TujungaNC/NCCongress/PlanCheckNC
02:23:23
You don’t have lawsuits on the Brown Act because of the legal costs and how it would consume your life. In fact, any legal situation consumes your life. No one wants to go there. But…there’s always a first time.
