Rent moratorium!!
Bill Rumpf
22:21
As nonprofit owner, we use rent collections to pay staff, do maintenance, pay utilities. so far, rental assistance has just covered small % of unpaid rent. We're very concerned about keeping tenants stable, but want to flag concern about consequences of rent moratorium on our ability to operate.
Dana Briggs
23:23
The definition of homelessness needs to be expanded to include anyone who does not have a place of their own, e.g. couch surfing, living in a motel, etc.
Curt Gray
25:01
Dana...agreed !!

Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin
28:22
Cities (other than large cities) have been asking for revenue relief since the CARES Act, and the CDBG funds are not sufficient. Why is this time going to be different?
Daniel Malone
28:56
permanent supportive housing for people living with disabilities hasn't had the same revenue losses as other affordable housing, but it has greatly increased costs due to activities needed to protect people with higher risk for severe effects of COVID. Would really help to include extra support in the bill for McKinney CoC programs to support these additional activities.
Trudy Soucoup @Homes First (she/her)
29:52
@Daniel - thanks for bringing that up!
John Alder
30:44

Karen Studders - Interfaith
30:50
Thank you Rep Jayapal. Why don't we call it UBI - Universal Basic Income. And why not start including cost of treatment of COVID-19 cases to advance Healthcare for All concurrently!

Thank you Representative Pramila Jayapal great stuff! I appreciate what you have to offer today!

Thank you Rep. Jayapal! I'm a low-income renter in Edmonds and really appreciate your leadership!
lisa
33:08
does the pay act bill effect the people who just got a temporary job during Covid19
Merina Hanson
33:18
Lindsey's question was also mine. Thank you for responding. It is critical that smaller cities have resources so we can continue to serve our residents.
Michele Thomas
33:18
Thank you so much Rep Jayapal!!!
Dinah Braccio
35:11
@bill rumpf you have roughly 14 people being paid six figures, maybe shake them down for rent money and not your low income tenants
Joanne Pelant

I think only five counties are home rule. King County is one of them. I think we are planning on using FEMA money for our hotel spaces.
Dana Briggs
41:53
Which counties have already applied? FEMA
Karen Studders - Interfaith
42:30
Thank you Ted. How is the state planning on avoiding the horrific impact of 2008 recession on the most vulnerable in our community going forward? With 21K homeless and 1.5 M unemployed, many of them who could become homeless. How can we learn from 2011 budget cuts and help prevent this outcome?
Maureen Howard
42:34
I think language to use with FEMA for covering the at risk folks would be helpful. North Carolina said they emphasized the public health aspect.
Jeff Simms
42:53
Can cities apply for FEMA reimbursement as well, or can it only be done through the county?
Housing Alliance

Emily O. (LIHI)
44:25
Does FEMA not consider homelessness to be a public health issue?
Emily O. (LIHI)
44:53
Of course! Yes; thanks for illuminating that.
Karen Studders - Interfaith
45:43
Can the state consider using FEMA guidance homelessness being a public health issue and applying for our 40K children experiencing homelessness and the McCleary decision?
John Alder
46:48
your welcome!
sally kinney
54:12
Dan Malone: I've read that Renton officials are concerned that the Red Lion situation should definitely be temporary -- do you know whether there is a strong pushback?
Caroline Lopez
54:58
Wonderful work keeping people safe at DESC!
Maureen Howard
55:06
Dan Malone - are you able to move people from the Red Lion into permanent housing?
Megan Kendig
55:38
Daniel - can you speak to how you've addressed social isolation for folks who are used to living in closely with others? Are you allowing people to stay in rooms together?
Kathy Lambert
56:10
Housing expansion is necessary and needs to be in less dense areas which is not in line with the Growth Management Act But high density is where more there is more transmission of the pandemic and puts people at risk going forward.
Craig Lyons
56:12
Always one step ahead of the game. Great work Daniel!
Michael Parker
56:15
How do you see balancing increasing costs with non-congregate emergency sheltering options versus permanent housing?
Bekah Manikowski
56:17
How do you handle laundry in the hotel situation? Do clients do there own?
Karen Studders - Interfaith
56:22
Amazing what happens when we treat ALL humans with grace and dignity, and provide access to privacy, meals, bathroom. Thank you Dan for your knowledge of how congregant shelters which we have used for 40+ years are not the solution to homelessness.
Allyson Breke
57:31
Possibility of using Lodging Tax money to use hotels as shelters? - providing heads for beds (thinking big picture)

01:18:31
Thank you CM Schromen-Wawrin! We appreciate your work.
Kathy Lambert
01:21:10
It is two values coming in conflict. We have to build new housing and make than a priority. But some counties are not building and giving builders land to build on. That pressure needs to come to the counties to get their permitting streamlined and some accountability. The Oklahoma City mission has a plan for moving people to housing that is respectful and yet we have not chosen to model that. Ms. Breke is absolutely right and that is an aspect of what I have been concerned about.
Yuni Medlin
01:21:15
Galina - we will have 6 FTE Emergency Rent Assistance Specialists dedicated to work on the applications
