Dominique Oliver

51:27
That is my question too
Maylin Baucage
51:35
can i file for reimbursement for myself and apply to parent plus?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
51:36
Cesar: Suspended payments due to COVID count toward the 120, which is great. People can potentially have over two years of qualifying payments.
jazz
51:50
Does that mean the 10 year requirement is no longer in affect?
Leah Burke
52:18
repeating question above, what about any loans that are in default?
Jazmin D Garcia
52:19
I am currently in school right now for my masters, would I be able to qualify?

Cara Brussovansky

Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
53:33
Jasmin: To reach forgiveness you must accumulate 120 qualifying payments, which means you have to be in repayment and working full-time for a qualifying employer. Once you graduate, you can start tracking your payments and work toward 120 qualifying payment.
Kathleen Graham (she/her)
53:46
It's a treat!
Martine Campoli Feeding Westchester

Maire O'Malley

I am in deferment right now, because I went back to school. I have a round 4 years between non profit work and state work
Leigh Wells
54:35
What’s specific for NYers in this period and how is that different from the federal waiver?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
54:38
Time in deferment, like an in-school deferment, will not count because technically you are not "in repayment."
Lourdes A
54:42
What is the paper work needed?
stacy mckenna
54:48
I've worked for a very small nonprofit since 2002; however there is currently no payroll. Would I still qualify?

Jasmine Owusuaah
55:19
I am only two years out of school, is it still recommended for me to get my paperwork in? or is it ideal to start from 4 years or later?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director

Marnie
55:33
Do you qualify if you are the Founder and CEO of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit?
Viviana Rijo
55:50

yvette.nieves

I worked full time while in school graduate and continue for an additional 7 years with the same company and now my loans are in deferrement and I work at another non profit does this still count
Gloribel Rodríguez
55:55
should I contact my past employers been working since 2014 non profit to have them complete the forma s well . My current employer already completer the form and I sent it in.
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
55:55
Jasmine: Get the paperwork started. This is the best way to track your progress toward the 120 qualifying payments.
Derrick’s iPhone
56:00
How does this effect people who got caught up in the Scam from the 80’s with the Business Schools and never went to the school.
yvette.nieves
56:03
ok
Nicole Riley
56:10
once we consolidate our loans (which is required before forgiveness), is it true that we will have to start paying at the highest interest rate until hitting 10 years of service (and thus then loans being forgiven)?

56:15
what if my payments were not consistent. will I qualify?
Amber May Joyce

Does being on an income based repayment plan count towards the 120 payments?
Tyneisha Gibbs
56:20
I’m already enrolled in the PSLF program but haven’t tapped into the temp waiver. Do I have to reapply?
Leigh Wells
56:20
Thanks, Carolina. I got a special form to fill out from my servicer related to this. https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/2022/attorney-general-james-secures-student-debt-relief-thousands-new-yorkers I was told there are some differences.
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
56:25
Gloribel: Yes. Get every employer you want credit for to complete the form.
Brenda Wilkin
56:26
much you have 10 years of working in NFP
June Matheson
56:35
I tried paying on my loans and I wasn't able to.
Brian Wheat

anton
56:57
I have a loan of $80,000.00. I work in home care. Do I qualify?
siricomeau
56:57
FedLoans are being purchased by a company, will that be a problem?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
57:32
Leigh: The AG form is different. You want to complete the PSLF Employment Certification form. We recommend using the Help Tool. Feel free to still to the AG form.
siricomeau
57:38

Taier Perlman (she/her)
57:42
Is the waiver program PSLF Application different from the one that we have been required to submit since this program was started?
Autumn (she/her)
57:43
If you are enrolled in the PSLF program and go back to school during your 120 payments, do your new loans add to the old loans or do you have to start the process over again?
FMaisonet
57:45
what if your school closed down are you still qualified?
Cassandra
57:51
What is you worked to a place that's out of business and can't get a signature?
PT-Navigator
57:52
Wouldn't the previous years tax papers qualify to support employment history?
Silpa Srinivasulu (she/her)
57:57
If I already submitted the form in situations that I was previously unqualified due to the wrong payment plan, but now I do qualify - do I need to complete the form again? Or is this already on file?
Viviana Rijo
57:57
What if we have not completed the 10 years yet?
Jackie
57:58
I applied recently and I've been working in relevant and eligible agencies for over 15 years. I was denied and got a stock letter that I can't quite figure out why I was denied. I'll try again, but thought that was weird.
Gloribel Rodríguez
58:01

Johanna Juarez
58:05

Cynthia Miles
58:30
What if I am only 8 years into paying student loans, am I not qualified?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
58:41
Siricomeau: FedLoan is literally leaving and will no longer manage the PSLF program. MOHELA will be the new servicer who will be managing PSLF. But there should be no impact, other than some paperwork processing delays.
Viviana Rijo
58:45
What type of organizations qualify as public service?
Steven Morris (He/Him)
58:46
I'm currently in the PSLF program after graduating in 2014, I worked for a nonprofit for 2 months (summer full time job) and then started at a full time job at a nonprofit, where I joined the PSLF -- do I need to do the waiver to get credit for the summer job?
KHanley
58:59
what if you were working in the field before you graduated college, do those years count?
mmala
59:02
what can I do about companies that have gone out of business?
LOliver
59:06
how do we apply for the direct type? how do we even know what type our loan is?
Kathleen Graham (she/her)
59:17
I'm an RN and worked per diem for a few years with non profits. Does that time qualify?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
59:29
Cynthia: For PSLF you accumulate 120 qualifying payments. You will be eligible if you do. To do so you must be in repayment and working full time. You should also be enrolled moving forward in an Income Driven Repayment plan.
Nikki Feit, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (she/her/hers)
59:45
How can you get certification from an organization that has since been dissolved?
Mary
59:53
As the employer, when one of our former employees applied, the signature request went right to us immediately, so that is good.
Brittany Bauch
59:53
Is there a way to get private loans merged into this with the government loans?
mennis
01:00:01
It's going to be difficult when I left College in 1997. That was my first downfall getting the loan forgiveness.
Dawn DeCesare
01:00:10
Ive only been with my non profit employer for 17 months
Nay
01:00:40
what if you've been with a non profit for less than 10yrs?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:01:31
Brittany: You cannot merge or consolidate private loans with federal loans. Unfortunately, PSLF will only apply to federal student loans.
Lisa Kaurich (She, Her, Hers)
01:01:40
When will this recording become available? My internet is going in and out so I can't hear the audio anymore
Erin Burud (she/her)
01:02:07

Jan Fisher, Executive Director, NPW she/her
01:02:11
We should send out the recording by early next week
Sara
01:02:47
I have worked in public sector for over ten years and I am in grad school right now. I have not started repayment process. Am I eligible?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:02:51
Nay: If you have been working less than 10 years in public service, it means you have some progress toward PSLF forgiveness. Remember, you want to reach the 120 (10 years) worth of payments and service.
DBossano
01:03:07
Does this apply to folks still in school? I think not but I rather get confirmation. Thanks!
Luisa Caraballo, Bronx House NORC Program
01:03:14
I have been in nonprofit agencies since Dec. 2012, but I graduated in May 2022 with my Masters Degree. Do those years count towards the eligibility requirement?
Courtney C
01:03:59
If I don't have 10 years of service but have made 120 payments does that still count?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:04:02
Sara: It will depend, but you should be able to submit the form and get feedback about the progress you have made for your loans. Reach out because there may be a specific tip for you but would require a careful review.
Robert Williams
01:04:07
How can one determine the Loan Servicer?
Sarah Sosnowski
01:04:22
If you receive forgiveness do you need to claim the amount on your taxes as income? Will this effect your credit?
Nicole Riley
01:04:30
once consolidated, do we have to start paying at highest interest rate (until we hit 10 years of service)?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:04:49
Courtney: For a payment to count, you must be working full-time for a qualifying employer. This means you cannot just pay the equivalent of 120 payments, if that makes sense.
Debora G
01:05:15
If I applied for a forgiveness in 2015 do I need to re-apply?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:05:16
Sarah: PSLF forgiveness is NOT taxable!
Viviana Rijo
01:05:26
What is we have not make any payments yet? I am still in school.
Kim
01:05:38
So to clarify, do not put in the parent plus loans?
J. Stokes
01:05:38
I am so sorry for having to sign on a little late. Perhaps you have already covered it.I have worked in public service from the very beginning of my career. What I would like to know though is: does this include those who attended private universities and have non-federal loans?
Candice Sparkman
01:05:41
Does that mean loan consolidation should be the 1st step?
David P Kalinoski
01:05:50
I applied and was accepted into the PSLF program, but not all of my non profit work experience was accounted for. Can I retroactively include past work?
Maleisha Cravey
01:05:56
can you send the direct link
Carol Sharrouf
01:06:13
what if you've made 120 payments but not over 10 years? are those qualifying payments?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:06:13
Deborah: You may need to submit the form again to cover any period that was not previously covered. Remember, US DOE needs to confirm you were in repayment and working full-time for a qualifying employer for the equivalent of 10 years. Those don't need to consecutive.
Michelle T. Logan, MSW
01:06:22
If I worked for DSS for 5 years before I took any loans for school does this count toward my 10 years?
iPhone
01:06:39
What if a company your worked with closed?

The program sends it through DocuSign though!
Dominique Oliver
01:06:53

Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:06:55
David: You can include any employment you had from October 1, 2007. You can't go back further.
Haley McClanahan
01:06:58
I started working at my current job as a part time employee and was brought on full time a couple of years later. What do I put as my start date?
Olympia Cepeda
01:07:07
I finished graduate school in 2010 and started working part time as a consultant for the Bergen Co Health Dept in their Cancer Education and Early Detection Program from 2012 to 2015 but did not start paying my loans until 2013 or 2014 when I started working for another non profit.
Wendy T
01:07:19
Do payments made prior to 2007 count?
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:07:39
iPhone: If the company closed, there are instructions on the form. You can basically say that and U.S. DOE should be able to help you address that issue
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:08:06
Wendy: Payments made before October 1, 2007 do not count.
Brian Wheat
01:08:10
When appropriate, please address double dipping with other loan forgiveness programs
Celia Adorno Brown
01:08:17
what if 120 payments have not been paid
Samantha
01:08:21
what if I have worked part time at nonprofits for years? does it have to be full time work and 120 payments
Wendy T
01:09:00
Rich - same here they said I only have 60!
Carolina Rodriguez, EDCAP Director
01:09:01
Haley: Submit the form and let U.S. DOE/MOHELA make the determination of how many qualifying payments you have. It is likely you won't get credit for the time you were working part-time.
Mongle Destine
01:09:14
I got a question: only federal loan is qualified for loan forgiveness?
J
01:09:27
Can you please tell me more about the TPSLF?
Mary
01:09:28
