What options are there for remedy of elder abuse when we come across it
DAVID KINNEY
02:46:22
I have a little understanding of elder abuse

02:47:22
A question for later maybe…How can we gently educate younger family members that may live in the same household as an elderly person who is cognitively declining?( ie verbal abuse, making fun of issues with memory loss etc..)
Jodi Bocco
02:49:23
The elderly and children are reliant upon the systems in place to advocate for them and protect them when they are victimized - due to their limited resources and ability to advocate for themselves. The offender may be their caretaker.
NOVA Webinar
02:50:07
So true, Jodi!

Good point there- I had worked with supervisors or other staff- that the energy they bring is negative because they are also treating their coworkers bad
Brinny
03:19:59
I believe companies/ governments and nonprofit working with victims should te-take the training so they could treat their staff with respect
Jodi Bocco
03:27:55
Is there autonomous oversight - which enforces compliance and protocols stipulated within the laws that protect victims of crime?
NOVA Webinar
03:31:09
Hi Nedra! I see your hand raised. Do you have a question?
Jodi Bocco
03:36:45
The needs of children who are victims of crime - are reliant upon the laws in place / state & federal - which stipulate the use of child advocacy centers. Training and oversight are needed - to protect their civil rights and developmental needs -which will directly affect the prosecutions of offenders who will not stop until these laws are enforced and they are prosecuted.
