People becoming members via Zoom? We had planned for folks to become members back on Easter Sunday, and they have been put on hold.
Connie Schweitzer
50:21
How do we help a congregation who is mostly in the high risk population understand that keeping the church building closed now is to protect everyone but especially others. Especially when they don't see attending church gathering any different than those who really haven't stayed at home and haven't experienced illness due to covid-19.
Kathy

DAVID GUNNELL
56:26
When we move to Phase 3 and 4 when more and more places opening up, how to deal with congregations that want or demand to be open as well? It becomes a display those open and those close
Lisa Kruse-Safford
56:40

We are vital to our community for our AA and NA - 2 of these groups are large. And these 2 groups meet on a Tuesday and Friday...How do we get to the point of opening our doors to our groups?
Connie Schweitzer
59:47
We have a small church and the Pastor is not concerned about the need of wearing masks or stressing the facts about the recently stated 80% who have covid-19 but no outward symptoms or symptoms at all. There have been parking lot worships where people have not been willing to wear masks and getting out of cars. What do we do when we are likely to have at least half who think we don't need to so anything because we are small.
Matthew Krings
01:00:58
Our church holds summer worship outside. Is it safe to allow the limits on people to be higher outside?
Melenie
01:01:00
I have the same question as Helen - we have large AA and other outside groups who use our spaces. What are the recommended guidelines for reopening to the outside groups?
Kathy
01:01:15
But! what about our small churches, out here in the "Boondocks"...……….. We are NOT the same as the Chicago area & the big churches! When can we gather, please?

Faith Church has ceiling fans and we normally have them turned on during service, especially in the summer our AC isn't working properly. I haven't found anything that has discussed the usage of fans. Should we use fans or not for circulation?
Melissa Earley - First, Arlington Heights
01:08:05
Couldn’t phase 5 be the minimum bar of safety?
james
01:08:32
I heard that fans and hand dryers actually cause the virus to move in the air. Not sure this is true but read a few articles recommending no fans or hand dryers. Salons in Texas are not blow drying hair.
Karen Doty
01:09:17
The EPA has a list which was recently revised with cleaning products that are believed to be effective with COVID-19. The list was just revised; I believe it is now called “List N”.

Our church has put out a survey to find out where people are with returning to in-person worship , ministries, etc. Church of the Resurrection did this and found about 30% of people would come back as soon as possible, 30% after several months in phase that would allow it and about 30% that won’t come back until there is a vaccine.

01:22:32
For clarity, the virus is airborne through droplets. It is not just in the air.
Connie Schweitzer
01:22:59
You are correct! And as a singer I can tell you that humming can be a problem because of the intake of the virus has the potential of entering the hummer and then we have another person or persons going out and begin infecting other people.
Linny Hartzell
01:23:30
I agree, Eddie. HVAC has return and the air is circulated. So, if we cannot turn on the HVAC system, then maybe we shouldn't be meeting.
Rev. Adonna D. Reid
01:23:40
Many of us have food pantries or are considering reopening them, if they have been closed, whether or not congregational worship resumes, how do we protect ourselves against the liability issues just mentioned? How could you “prove” someone did not get sick, if they do, from our ministry? Actually, this would apply to any of our ministries, like some others mentioned NA/AA groups meeting.
James Rendel
01:24:30
...so ac, fans, any ventilation, heating, breathing, singing, etc. spreads virus...
Toni Lucas
01:24:31
We’ve kept our food pantry open, but no one allowed in the building. Curbside delivery only.
Karen--Steward United Methodist Chucrch
01:24:43
Rev Adonna Reid, we have a food pantry in our area that serves customers in their cars. The same people work each Saturday.
Leslie Stanford
01:25:05

01:26:22
Ow about taking temperature before entering building?
Luther Mason
01:26:36
So when it comes to cleaning and sanitizing, right now we don't know the cost for our buildings to be done. Although we have gotten a cost range quote for the Greenstone Church, will there be any financial assistance/underwriting for the cost through our NIC group insurance?
Rich Ottens, Hanover
01:27:00
Bottom line is that for every answer given, there is a boat load of more questions. Guess we should just stay out until whenever the white flag is waved, depending on who is waving the flag.
Karen--Steward United Methodist Chucrch
01:27:08
Rochelle has a distillery who converted their operation to sanitizer. You can get it there--Kennay Farms
Leslie Stanford
01:27:24
Hand sanitizer if more available but watch because price gouging has been an issue.
Connie Schweitzer
01:27:24
taking temp. is not a guarantee that the person is not a carrier of covid-19 as people can have it and carrying it without a temperature.
Gaye Lynn Loufek
01:27:27
Medline is currently serving churches with PPE. There is an option for a separate account to be set up and you are given a “license #” of sorts. They WILL NOT send to individuals so have your Tax Exempt number ready when you order.
Nancy
01:27:34
Be careful with too much sanitizer being washed down the drain. It destroys the good bacteria in your septic system. Soap is preferable.

Taking temperatures could be a precaution, but remember that some people may be positive for the virus with no symptoms, so if someone's temperature is normal and they are contagious, the temperature requirement doesn't necessarily help
Kristina Gaughan
01:33:14
In addition to other cautions mentioned, taking someone's temperature is protected health information and becomes subject to privacy laws.

Gaye Lynn Loufek
01:37:06
Touchfree soap dispensers, touch free paper towel dispensers are more appropriate that touch free air dry hand dryers. Any unnecessary air circulated or blown may be hazardous. Also, waste containers with “push open” guards will be another breeding ground. Any “touch surfaces”, especially those people might have touched without washing their hands, are going to need extra care in cleaning and frequency.
Barbara Gbur
01:37:34
Not all people aware of symptoms. If you go back you should have a list where people can see the them

01:40:22
Thank you Bishop, Anne Marie, Lisa, Shamus and Hope for you presentation
Lisa Kruse-Safford
01:40:24
David, I would suggest reflection: it is about what people are doing while gathered, as well as that in Phase 4 we are still trying to limit the transmission of the virus.
Karen Doty
01:40:42
Speaking of different guidelines, our church has a situation of conflicting guidelines. Although schools are not allowed to open as schools until Phase 4 (and I also offer that as an edit to the ReTurn Plan), the State just changed its policy about summer camp and is now allowing schools to operate “summer camps” (but not actual summer school) this summer. The guidelines for Summer Camps fall under the Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and are quite different from the guidelines for Churches. While Churches are only allowed to have one group of up to 10 people meeting at a specific time in the entire building, summer camps are allowed to have multiple groups of up to 10 people as long as they are at least 30 feet apart, and no more than 50% of the original capacity limits. Since we have an elementary school operating in our church, our two institutions now have conflicting guidelines. I have calls into both IDPH and DCEO, and am awaiting their guidance.
