Also, just wanting to presence that Jan 1st is the birth of the Western Christian New Year :) I learnt that the Jewish new year is born during fall equinox recently, and for Tamil folk like me, my new year starts in mid-April when it’s spring and the year feels truly new to me, as the Neem and Punnai trees native to here burst into bloom. Also, New year arrives on different days for Indians of different linguistic affinities, as I am sure it does for folks of the many ethnicities in the human world
