How about Evanston?
Moral and Morale have very different meanings
It's clearly morale
Only “morale" makes sense in this context
Correct. Perhaps Hebrew does not differentiate? Tova Shimon?
its kind of a pun
right. no differentiation in heb
the Hebrew word means the spirit of the people
The Hebrew for moral is "musar"
So one’s morale should be moral?
I meant in spelling. the word in Heb only means morale. moral is something like לקח or מוסר השכל etc
So MORAL in Hebrew only means morale. For the English word "moral". we have musar, etc.
IT NEEDED TO BE TRANSLATED AS ETHIC
depends on genl context and/or specific sentence
No. The poem is speaking about undermining the morale.
yes (to Lawrence Kaplan) that's very clear from the text

The person singing is Shlomo Arzi and next to him ( Left) is Yaffa Yarkoni
when the sound of one word reminds us of another ,there is a connection between them . when we do well we feel well in the case of moral and morale
Except we have no idea where the historic Mount Sinai is. Wherever it is, unlike the Temple Mount, possesses no sanctity.
This story is well known in Israel, unlike others that Rachel may share.
It was immoral but do not compare to Holocaust plz. it is very complicated! There was no Holocaust of the Palestinians at any time. No comparison to the Jewish Holocaust In Nazi Germany
She was just referring to the image of the mothers protecting their children with their own bodies.
Sheri - it is only a measure
What she’s describing is absolutely horrifying, regardless of of what you call it.
Rachel was speaking about the images of live people under bodies. Didn't imply general comparison.
I don't care honestly. I am super sensitive to this. Inexcusable
Rachel would not compare anything to the Shoah in a broader way.
Not discussing further thank you
Sigalit, I respect your opinion.
THIS IS ISRAEL .. the truth will come out
I remember singing this song!
Kfar Kasim also was tremendously, gracefully compensated! they have THE center for SPED in the counrty! all kids going to college with scholarships etc.
There is no compensation for lives massacred
we sang this song at camp Ramah in the 1960s without a hint of the atrocities that had just been committed. I am horrified
STATE OF ISRAEL AND THE VILLAGE SIGNED A SULCHA AND THEY WERE COMPENSATED TOGETHER WITH AN APPOLOGY
Also at Camp Massad in Ontario in 1960
I went there with a Melton Kallah studying Borders and met with town leaders 3 or 4 years ago.
Karin - Tohar HaNesheq is critical and people do stupid thing and pay the price- PLZ stop! Not interested in arguing or making excuses for bad behaviors! The vllage was compensated w apology too.
roy and leora
Also Camp Massad Aleph same year., Tannersville PA. I was 7 y.o.
Jon Tepper in Tucson
also choreographed as a well-known Israeli dance
Sigalt" 'Stupid" is the wrong word.
PLZ STOP - Didn't ask you to judge my word choice
Also sang Mewl Har Sinai at Camp Ramah in CT
Sigalit if you do not wish for a response then please don't post. And let's pay attention to our extraordinary teacher instead of filling up the chat with our own opinions.
As opposed to your judging others? I don't disagree with your general pint.
Is a full-time embargo still a ‘curfew’? It seems a sanitized term.
Jon Tepper in Tucson
I think the villagers and field workers did not know that the time of curfew had been moved up, by an order issued that same day.
This is enraging and heart-breaking.
At least they should have been dishonorably discharged.
In genesis, there also was a slaughter of the offending tribe...
Not "infamous" but an "abomination" or "dispeakable"
Jacob never forgave his two sons for the "revenge"
appropriate references as we approach Shavuot
Ever since than and much before it became a law in the US, Israeli military makes it illegal to obey an illegal order .. the decision is on the shoulders of the Israeli soldier
Like during the Vietnam War: the Mei Lai incident.
Correct .. but the Israeli law went into effect much before it became law in the us
In 1961 .. it was already in effect
did Israel build the memorial or the arab town?
I think the statement of Judge Halevois mor eambifgous than it seems .
this is part of Israel—Ithink
what isresidents’ relation to the state?
They are citizens of Israel, like everyone else.
if it’s part of israel they are citizens
how do the residents feel about Israel today?
Toda Rabba Rachel and All
Thank you Rachel for another fantastic session!
Thank you for bringing this history to our attention
Galaxy Tab S5e
Arab Israelies make up 22% of Israeli citizenship. How they feel takes more than a chat answer.
It's to the glory of Israel that you can do a class like this. Todah rabah.
WOW...Rachel, today you challenge everything we thought about Israel as a l”light unto the nations”...as a moral country that learned from concepts of “Never again”...Does that mean “never too us again?”
It is to the glory of the J. people that the painful sins that were committed are documented in our book of books our code of law.
Please mute yourself if you’re not the speaker
The moral dilemmas that the soldiers constantly face take emotional and psychological tolls that they need to recover from after they’re done with their service. It’s not unusual for them to take time off for awhile.
thank you Rachel.
Thank you Kitty.
Thanks for a powerful session.
Thank you Sheri. I think a great deal about these wonderful young Jews whom we are losing in terms of love of Israel. We lose them at that moment of disillusionment, when they come to believe they were lied to. Truth is the light.

Kitty...thank you for expressing concern of of how we educate our children and your
