Hi everyone - unfortunately, I have not been able to get a second ASL interpreter on the line. However, I have also not heard from anyone currently in our meeting who is needing ASL interpretation. Please private message me if anyone has a need for ASL interpretation, and I will keep trying. Sue, we understand you need to hop off.

^^right?! the website is super helpful
Carol Luery
02:12:01
And privacy?
Melissa Moore (they/them)
02:12:05
local municipal government websites are a wealth of info, too
Amanda Callahan
02:13:29
@carol - want to make sure your questions gets answered - privacy about what? Can you clarify?
Melissa Moore (they/them)
02:14:11
thanks for the follow-up, @amanda
Carol Luery
02:14:23
Safety and privacy. Could some stories not want to be told because of security for example?
Ana C. She/Her
02:14:37
THat is a good point Carol!
Melissa Moore (they/them)
02:14:41
ah. testimony is public
Melissa Moore (they/them)
02:14:51
when you testify at hearings, you’re on the record.
Ana C. She/Her
02:15:09
Yes, some people choose not to share because of privacy. That choice is valid!
Amanda Callahan
02:15:35
YES! Great question. I think there are ways to share stories and keep them private. Melissa mentions testimony is public. And even sharing an email can be public. There are ways to create privacy and still share, but as Ana mentions - it’s ultimately your story, your choice to share!
Melissa Moore (they/them)
02:15:39
that’s an important point to uplift, carol. you have to share your address too
Carol Luery
02:16:20
That must make it challenging
Amanda Callahan
02:16:50
You highlight another layer to the equation - very perceptive observation!
Melissa Moore (they/them)
02:16:51
some municipal bodies ask for addresses from testifiers. it does make it challenging, but there are other ways to use your voice. phone calls, in-person connections count, too
