I saw the billboards and in as much as it was an interesting and quirky approach , I am not confident that the general public got the message. Which I guess boils down to who their TA was?

Yeah. Bolt advertises way too much on YouTube.
so does yango. I think they are using the same tactics (cab services) but geopgraphically.
on the third point : brands advertising too much, is the issue with the consistency or the content of the advertisement?

Is it possible to unpack the assertion about too much advertising? Is it about the volume of ads (like Bolt on YT) or the quality/ appeal of the ad?

I think cate kamau works because she is very relatable. I look at her I see me. combined with the price of the product nice and lovely found a good influencer
Regarding excessive advertising, I think a number of factors put consumers off - Confusing and annoying content being tops. Another may be non-relevance of the brand to consumers
I believe excessive advertising with the right message builds curiosity which is key for brands.
