sorry myrtle
Karla Rose
46:19
one more question for Lt. Johnson, what does it take to get a house designated as a chronic nuisance?
Tracy @ WSB
46:54
The Riverview robbery was case # 2021-020036. The newest info I got the next day is from the Significant Incident Report published here: (sixth item) https://spdblotter.seattle.gov/2021/01/25/sunday-january-24-2021/
Kay K/ HPAC

Hi Alex & Clara-
christina
58:56
At the bottom of SW Webster St, cars speed down the hill and through the stop sign on 15th ave sw - rarely does any car ever stop at the intersection
Chris Johnson
58:59
in reading the report regarding the robbery the involved people are known to each other. There is a possibility of gaing involvement. The victims live in the area but there is no information that the suspect live in the area.
Laura Drake
01:01:19
What exactly is a greenway?
Randy Winn
01:01:39
Barton Greenway - any "green" improvement. IIRC it's all grass parking strips or paved on the west end.
Randy Winn
01:02:08
Replacing parking strips with rain gardens might make it an actual green way.
Chris Johnson
01:02:09
Jennifer Danner is our crime prevention coordinator. She would be the best contact regarding nuisance properties. This used to be a CPT function but with the ending of that unit I do not believe anybody has taken on that body of work. Her email is Jennifer.Danner@Seattle.gov
Karla Rose
01:03:05
Thanks Lt. Johnson! I’ll reach out to Jennifer about the nuisance property.
C Mix/C Horsfall
01:07:37
what the heck is a painted curb bulb?
Ellen Powers
01:09:43
Would the greenway necessarily be limited to 1 street? (btwn 10th/11th/12th)?
Laura Drake
01:10:56
What three languages are the translations in?
C Mix/C Horsfall
01:11:24
I looked up painted curb bulbs...um, how does that actually help?
Newell Aldrich
01:11:44
where will the survey be located online?
Barb
01:12:18
what is a traffic cushion or where can I see one?
Kay K/ HPAC
01:12:36
I believe they have them on 9th now?
Karyn Angulo
01:12:36
Like at 16th and Thistle and Kenyon?
Laura Drake
01:12:46
Can there please be stop signs on 13th and Thistle and 13th and Cloverdale? Cars coming up those hills are hard to see!
Michele Witzki She/Her
01:12:59
a traffic cushion is what use to be called a speed bump
Wayne myers
01:16:41
How will people that are not involved in this meeting know about this survey?
Danielle Friedman, Dept of Neighborhoods, she/her
01:20:18
Take the survey here: www.seattle.gov/reconnectwestseattle Will be up in a day or two!
Laura Drake
01:20:37
16th and Trenton….traveling east across 16th is rough!
Sonya Reasor
01:20:41
How could we get radar speed feedback signs on 16th, especially north of Webster? People really speed on 16th
Richard Schilling
01:20:45
For Q&A: Thank you SPD for being here. In October we learned that Pete Holmes’ office keeps excusing violent crimes and the problem is growing. While we patiently wait for him to resign, what’s the plan to put pressure on The City Attorney’s office to take crime more seriously?
Richard Schilling
01:21:23
The speed cushions are great!
Highland Park Improvement Club
01:21:44
please explain a greenway
christina
01:21:51
What’s the effectiveness of Flashing Beacons, and are they worst the investment?
Randy Winn
01:22:09
I like the painted bulb improvements on Henderson at 13th - use them almost every day
Randy Winn
01:23:03
There is a seep in the sidewalk, S side of Henderson between 13 and 14 that freezes in winter and makes walking too dangerous
ROCIO E ARRIAGA
01:23:32
agreed with Randy
Barb
01:24:01
Please esert influence on seattle city light to get the nearly 3 full blocks of streetlights that are out along Olson Pl SW?
Newell Aldrich
01:25:53
Will do Kay.
Barb
01:26:14
they have been reported!!!
Sonya Reasor
01:26:19
Can you address speeding on 16th pls?
Tracy @ WSB
01:26:23
Streetlights - the Olson lights were the reason for this story which applies to a lot of longterm out lights https://westseattleblog.com/2020/12/wondering-why-it-takes-so-long-to-fix-some-streetlights/
Donna Burns
01:26:31
Let's invite City Light to February's meeting ;)
christina
01:29:03
Stop sign at SW Webster St and 15th Ave SW… can there be anything to slow traffic that cuts through to Webster and fly down the hill?
Barb Biondo
01:29:22
I have a question about the new Webster walkway on south side of RV playfield
Barb
01:30:36
Any possibility to address westbound SW Holden St at 16th Ave SW where drivers use the right hand lane to go around the vehicles waiting to turn left (southbound on 16th Ave SW)
Karyn Angulo
01:31:38
Same question as Barb has. With all the bridge traffic, turn lanes on Holden at 16th would be helpful.
Karyn Angulo
01:31:57
16th is bad from college to Henderson!
Barb
01:32:06
Any plans to sinc up the 16th Ave SW & SW Holden St with the sensors that are at 16th Ave SW & SW Austin St .. or put sensors to get the 16th & Holden 7-11 and fire dep't corner to flow better?
Sonya Reasor
01:33:17
Thank you - we will answer the survey!
Barb
01:33:37
Previously per SDOT staff westbound SW Holden St in front of the fire dep't at 16th Ave SW isn't wide enuf for a left / southbound turn lane but the high need still exists.
Richard Schilling
01:36:10
So, what happens if people cut through the stay healthy streets? Aren’t the signs just advisory? Enforcement measures aren’t clear. Can you clarify
Richard Schilling
01:38:05
Right. So without enforcement, safe streets are still public streets available for traffic .. technically speaking. So I wouldn’t expect people would feel a need to observe the signs.
Highland Park Improvement Club
01:38:09
they are integral to us in highland park the Stay Healthy sucks
Richard Schilling
01:38:12
thanks!
Richard Schilling
01:38:37
I do think the signs are helpful to cut down traffic though.
christina
01:39:43
If it was marked two lanes - that might be helpful
Sonya Reasor
01:40:11
I agree, Christina
Karyn Angulo
01:40:18
Me, too.
Barb
01:40:30
the right lane is for rt turns and people nearly wreck going westbound
Richard Schilling
01:40:42
That’s correct. no left turn signal there. The traffic jams at that intersection block the fire department exit, and people drive around cars to try and use both lanes.
Kay K/ HPAC
01:41:51
Thanks for looking into this intersection Sara.
Richard Schilling
01:42:16
Pun!
Highland Park Improvement Club
01:43:09
too many bumps
Sonya Reasor
01:44:28
We don’t typically like the Stay Healthy streets but having one on 12th next to Riverview would be nice, since so many people walk and bike there.
Richard Schilling
01:46:27
I realize people don’t find stay healthy streets fun. But another thing to consider is what happens if SPD is defunded. It might be better to restrict traffic as much as possible in some areas/streets if there is fewer police services to patrol for safety.
Richard Schilling
01:47:17
Example: SPD isn’t going to be able to proactively check speeders on side streets with children.
Richard Schilling
01:47:55
So, it might be necessary to restrict traffic to locals only.
Sonya Reasor
01:47:57
I don’t feel like SPD is checking speeders on ANY streets…
Richard Schilling
01:48:14
Correct Sonya. I think that’s true.
Richard Schilling
01:49:09
Most misdemeanors are not crimes any more, per City Attorney’s office. Ergo, I wouldn’t expect SPD patrols for those issues.
Richard Schilling
01:50:33
The light at holden and Highland Park Way has been VERY helpful to cut down speeders and drag racers. It’s much more quiet on that corner now (I live right nearby).
Julie Schickling
01:51:00
yes we do
Ellen Powers
01:51:15
I have a question...
C Mix/C Horsfall
01:51:37
I also have questions...
Julie Schickling
01:51:38
we live in 12th and Webster and its a speedway. They have a long stretch to rev it up.
Richard Schilling
01:56:23
Julie there are quite a few street racers around still as well. I notice them. They stage races at the bottom of Highland Park Drive, but also come up the hill. Very fast. Very loud.
Richard Schilling
01:57:05
SPD says controlling for street racing isn’t something they’re doing now. So, any traffic calming we can do to mitigate that would be good.
Richard Schilling
01:58:09
Yay light!
Kay K/ HPAC
01:58:38
So true!
Richard Schilling
01:58:53
Yes true. Kenyon to holden is very fast.
Thao Le
01:58:55
yes to left turning light on Holden!
Sonya Reasor
01:59:02
Agreed!
Richard Schilling
01:59:07
At night the light at holden becomes a drag race signal as well.
Richard Schilling
02:00:02
The crosswalk on holden is nice, but it’s right in the middle of the traffic.
Richard Schilling
02:00:32
Q: isn’t there a traffic circle planned for Holden and Highland Park Way? I thought I heard there was.
Richard Schilling
02:01:12
(I could be wrong)
Richard Schilling
02:01:24
HPWSW.
Donna Burns
02:01:35
Richard there was discussion of that prior to the street lights
Richard Schilling
02:02:13
Ah, I see. That’s when I heard about it. Thanks donna.
Richard Schilling
02:02:22
#memoryissues
Wayne myers
02:02:57
What type of messaging is planned to let people know about the survey
Richard Schilling
02:03:29
Yes that’s correct. You take your chances crossing HPWSW
Sonya Reasor
02:03:57
Please post the survey to the Riverview and Highland Park Facebook groups
Wayne myers
02:04:17
Thanks - that helps
Kay K/ HPAC
02:04:18
Good idea Sonya
