Hello all
Pamela Moriarty
23:26

Nicki Bidgood
23:48

Mary Bottomley
24:02
this is my first webnier with south yorkshire police
Nicki Bidgood
25:23
I have to leave at 5:30 but will watch the rest later
Mary Bottomley
25:38
the reason why i have joined because we have guide dog for my husband
Pantea Etessami
26:13
Hi Everyone, I am forever in fear of my pet being stolen as I am a mugging victim and carry a crutch and have no chance with an attacker. However, I have an emergency at home right now and have to leave. Could I please ask you to send me the recording or give me the URL of the meeting please? I really need to watch this. My email is panteae@yahoo.co.uk
Linda Stevenson
26:19
Thank you Katy for the action yov'e taken
Natalia Di Pietro
28:25
a lot of people in my area think its scare mongering about pettheft. those who don't use social media that much are not aware of how huge the problem is, even some police forces
Mary Bottomley
29:14
well i disagree because when our guide dog goes missing our local call centre care
Neo Reedy
29:26
Seen a dog taken right in front of owner on Bartons Field in Havant.
Lynda Brooks
29:41
Two of my friends have had an attempted pet theft recently.
Mary Bottomley
29:54
i mean they dont care
Linda Stevenson
29:56
I'm in Weymouth Dorset and shared it with my dog groups I know our owners are frightened and we will be driving this through in Weymouth and surrounding areas
Nikki West
31:38
All dog theft MUST be made illegal & given a sentence of upto 5 years. 5 years minimum I'd say
Natalia Di Pietro
31:45
it causes a lot of trauma to the pets too, this needs to be considered as animal cruelty too
Maxine Webb
31:53
Police don't take theft dog seriously. I have heard police state its a 'civil matter'.
Nicki Bidgood
32:34
Up to 5 years is not right it should be 5 years + as a minimum. If they stole your child I am sure they would get life
Nikki West
32:35
sadly they do
Rosemarie Randell
32:40
They need more resources to be able to be on top of this
Nikki West
33:06
Natalia I agree 100%
Mary Bottomley
34:09
how would you deal with guide dog being stolen as i have friends that it has happened too and they havent found the police helpful
Nikki West
34:13
blimey that's a 1st
Anne Ray
34:18
lovely story there
Ste lloyd Violet
34:31
How can we be part of the campaign to make dog there illegal ?
Maxine Webb
34:31
The police will only do a raid if the thieves are involved in other crime. If there are stolen dogs on site then its added to the charge sheet.
Natalia Di Pietro
34:49
why was one of the dogs seized from the orpington raid not handed back to the owner fro 7 months?
Rosemarie Randell
34:54
we need a nationwide lost pet database
Nikki West
35:25
agreed
Hille Harris
35:27
we do !
Maxine Webb
35:28
Doglost is a national database that is free and very effective as a database
Nikki West
35:52
would be different if it was a coppers pet that was nicked
Rosemarie Randell
35:53
is it used by the police though?
Alex Bennett
35:57
Natalia it was 8 months between the theft and the recovery
Natalia Di Pietro
36:31
Aleex, why did it take 8 mths? that's ridiculous
Steph Carpenter
36:39
It would be good to see the police work with doglost
Linda Stevenson
36:48
I've written to our new Police Crime Commissioner for Dorset area asking his if he intends to set up a task force in Dorset we can then have a way of connenting with them
David Alder
36:54
Is there not a national 'Missing Dogs Register' where owners can report the details? If not, would that help? Clearly the missing dogs are unlikely to be kept in their owners' area.
Natalia Di Pietro
37:28
David, there is. Doglost.co.uk but it isn't used by all police and councils
Simon Lilley
37:37
#findmissyandbiscuit
Anne Ray
38:35
thanks @katy
Mary Bottomley
38:38
have you thought about connecting to guide dogs as example
Natalia Di Pietro
38:46
Why are so many "individual" released from police custody after being arrested for pet theft?
Neo Reedy
39:11
Because pets done hold a high regard to the government. It’s hard to classify them...
Jane Holmes
39:16
Pet Detective TV on YouTube is well worth watching.
Nikki West
39:27
because they don't care
Lisa Emmington
39:28
Could all the microchip companies be required to share their information on one national database?
Michelle Commons
39:30
Thank you very interesting results from the survey
Rhys Edwards
40:22
For those of us in attendance from other ares in uk, what can we do to convince our local police force to take your level of interest and have a dog task force here?
Elizabeth Bond
40:25
Is it possible to fit a tracker to a dog? Like a pacemaker?
Maxine Webb
40:29
The taskforce needs to include individuals who know whats going on on the ground. Defra,MPs and justice officials have not got a clue
Neo Reedy
40:39
Police didn’t care about the swans being poached on o field
Linda Stevenson
40:40
I'll write to Richard Drax he does respond to written letters
Nikki West
40:43
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for assault?
Neo Reedy
40:43
On our field*
Mei Chan
41:02
Children are now even being attacked for their pets as well as the elderly - are there any 'legal' deterrents walkers can carry with them to protect themselves and their dog?
Steve Carter
41:03
Have you got a breakdown of the figures by region?
Alex Bennett
41:05
Katy can you send me some details of the task force as I was part of one last week which was national so I want to make sure we arent duplicating I am West Yorks police
Hille Harris
41:09
please can we focus on the north as well - Yorkshire and humber
Hannah Baker
41:33
GPS trackers are available for dogs. A thief can of course remove them quite easily - but if a dog runs off you have a much better chance of getting them back before they fall into the wrong hands
Christine Green
41:47
Cant read the third point on the slide
Nikki West
41:48
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for assault?
Natalia Di Pietro
41:56
pepper spray needs to be legalized. why is pepper spray classed in the same category as a firearm?
Simon Lilley
41:57
Members on the task force need to speak to individuals that have had their pets stolen. #findmissyandbiscuit
Mei Chan
42:13
The thieves are cutting the dogs microchips out - usually rather barbarically
Deborah Hemsley
42:15
I am rather paranoid due to the breed of my dog I have an attack alarm that I carry with me. I won’t let my boys take him for a walk. As a French bulldog
Hille Harris
42:15
kate bourne how do I contact you
Carol Crowdy
42:26
Could I ask how many dog thefts have been recorded in the Thames Valley?
Maxine Webb
42:47
Thieves now punch people in the face and use violence but you are told by police that you are not allowed to go armed as you will be in trouble!
Christine Green
42:53
What is the third point after in sight
Katy Bourne
43:00
pcc@sussex-pcc.gov.uk
Linda Stevenson
43:02
I'm so pleased to hear PCC Dorset is on board will feed this back to my groups
Nikki West
43:08
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for assault?
Richard Whomsley
43:12
It is a real concern for Guide Dog Owners and personally I advise people I work with that they should go with someone as added security.
Lindsey Baker
43:16
How do we get pet theft to be classed as animal cruelty and therefore taken more seriously?
kelly John
43:33
Has there been a decrease in the number of dog theft reports of late ?
Neo Reedy
43:35
America holds the microchip IDs in one database. Moving here to the UK has been hilarious.
Neo Reedy
43:41
No one can talk to another...
Claire Drainey
44:06
I’m involved in search and rescue of dogs when they become lost. It’s very difficult sometimes to know whether the dogs have just wandered off or stolen. Just yesterday I was involved in looking for a dog that had gone missing for 48hrs, during the day the owner received a ransom phone call demanding a monetary amount to “release” the dog. How are the police dealing with this type of issue?
Maxine Webb
44:07
Microchips have there uses but even though it is required I am not aware of any owner being fined for this. Also be aware organised crime gangs cut out the chip!
Deborah Gornik
44:10
Other things to acknowledge are that dogs are living, emotional and they feel. Recent literature also tells us that grief can overwhelm some dogs..
Rosemarie Randell
44:11
thank you Katy
Natalia Di Pietro
44:15
ther eis nothing to stop thieves butchering stolen dogs to remove chips and implant their own
David Alder
44:28
How many dog thefts were reported in the last 12 months nationally?
Nikki West
44:53
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for ASSAULT?
Marie Kennedy
45:04
thank you
Rosemarie Randell
46:04
carry lemon juice with you and spray in any perpetrators eyes, it's not illegal as far as I know!
Linda Stevenson
46:12
Been following Dr Allen on Twitter and thank you
Jennifer Shipside
46:38
Or perfume or deodorant spray - same effect, but legal
Nikki West
46:40
I'd fight back
Nikki West
46:50
hairspray works well
Mary Bottomley
46:56
how do i get daniels picture on my screen as i lipread
Maxine Webb
47:03
A London council has just ordered a poor owner to take down posters of their missing dog and if they don't they will remove them at the owner's cost!
Natalia Di Pietro
47:08
I carry deep heat spray as my knee plays up on walks! wink wink
Jennifer Shipside
47:12
Go to View top right then cl;ick speaker
Nikki West
47:46
I carry pepper spray for when I want to eat out 😜
Mary Bottomley
47:51
thank you i got him
Maxine Webb
48:23
There is a legal spray that you can buy from Amazon that is a semi permanent dye that marks the attacker, but not really an impact on them apart from that
Nikki West
48:45
what goods that?
Natalia Di Pietro
48:57
that London council is Haringey who has demanded owners take down stolen dog poster....Haringey council and Waltham forest council have a lot to answer for regarding reuniting stolen or found dogs with owners. Only a few days ago they euthanized a found dog less than 24 hrs after Nero was handed in to them
Nikki West
48:58
they'll just wash it off
Wendy Sayer
49:07
I carry a DNA spray, trouble is in the heat of the moment if you are being attacked by somebody trying to take your dog, will you be able to get the spray and deploy it.
Rosemarie Randell
49:15
to identify them it doesn't wash off immediately
Marion Foster
49:36
What is the most appropriate way to report concerns or suspicions of stolen dogs being kept at a site or location that will be taken seriously? I know from the various lost or stolen pet groups that I belong across the country that members of the public sometimes try to report concerns but they haven't unfortunately always been taken seriously.
Nikki West
49:37
that will be completely useless
Nikki West
50:32
I signed proudly
Maxine Webb
51:01
There is no point increasing sentences if you don't charge the thief in the first place because the limited legislation is not being applied by the police/authorities
Wendy Sayer
51:18
Had a high number of stolen dogs recovered from gypsy camps round here. It is worrying as there are so many white vans cruising with one or two men in just looking at houses
Pamela Moriarty
51:48
Perhaps carry an attack alarm device?
Hille Harris
52:13
thanks Daniel - and education on actions, consequences for self and the "victims" i.e. the dog and their careres ?
Nikki West
52:51
then you'll just have to wait n see if anyone from the public will bother helping you or just walk past or stare at you
Linda Stevenson
53:17
Some people when I shared your petition on my social platform said Petitions don't work Dr Alan you've proved them wrong and we mush keep up the pressure
Katy Bourne
54:47
I've got to go now but its been good meeting everyone and I've just read all your comments with great interest and have taken notes. If you need to get in touch with your local Police & Crime Commissioner, you can find their details here: www.apccs.police.uk
Maxine Webb
54:48
Also some thefts are carried out between relatives/groups in order to make an insurance claim on the dog.
Rhys Edwards
55:30
I think increasing sentences may help motivate police to pursue the conviction because it would have more of an impact on the crime landscape. Currently would putting a lot of time and resources into convicting and issuing a fine really make much of an impact or deter future dog theft? I'm not sure how much the fine is?
Maxine Webb
56:05
Don't believe the Police who say there is not a problem, based on their lack of statistics/reports.
Vicky Parker
56:05
I’ve bought a chain and wrapped the collar part in soft fabric, then padlock the dog to my wrist
Pamela Moriarty
56:38
wow
Vivian Reid
56:44
Are there any specific areas of the country that have higher rates of dog theft than others?
Michelle Commons
57:46
Love your pooch wanted to make himself heard also 🙂🐶
kelly John
57:53
Are you aware if the 170% increase on the dog lost database have all been reported to the police
Mei Chan
58:53
Definitely another aspect is the insurance scams now - as bad as whiplash claims as the claims can be in their thousands!! The business is too lucrative to now be easily squashed- selling dogs, puppy farming, etc.Even with harsher sentences it will continue until the public stop paying the high prices for dogs which won't realistically happen since more able to continue to work from home
Nicki Rose
59:02
We really need a national microchip base some companies won't even release details to a local authority who find a stray
Maxine Webb
59:13
If you are out walking a dog you should buy a small Carabiner climbing clip for the lead/dog
Deborah Hemsley
59:25
I have a rope type lead but it has a metal core running through it and attach a panic alarm to it so pull it and it goes off.
Pamela Moriarty
01:00:08
Thank you both good tips
Natalia Di Pietro
01:00:54
Mei, so true. Dog thieves don't care about the law, they will just get smarter. Pet theft will stop when the demand stops. The public needs to be educated on the consequences of not buying responsibly. Unfortunately, too many people don't care where their new dog or puppy has come from, as they just want a puppy or dog! Too many people are selfish
Pamela Moriarty
01:01:50
often its ignorance
Rosemarie Randell
01:02:23
Absolutely Natalie!
Maxine Webb
01:02:24
Daniel Allen you need to take into account not only the different attitudes between different police forces and individual police officers. Also because of this many dog thefts are not reported because of the lack of support in trying to locate the dog/take the theft seriously
Lesley Pike
01:03:11
bring back dog licences
Lynda Brooks
01:03:55
I have seen far too many dogs tied up outside of shops
John Hayward-Cripps - NWN CEO
01:04:06
If people have specific questions for Daniel or the other speakers please ask them on this chat line. Many thanks
Michelle Commons
01:04:13
bring back dog licences I 100% agree with this Lesley
Mei Chan
01:04:18
Agreed - but owners really do not care who want a dog either. They are desperate and paying thousands, they won't rescue and are supporting puppy farms as they are desperate for a dog and don't care that dogs are being cruelly treated and prostituted. The issue now is huge and no resources. It will get much worse
Natalia Di Pietro
01:04:57
Lesley, dog licences didn't work before and it wont work again. Since 2018, you need a breeding licence to sell puppies. This hasn't exactly stopped people breeding and selling dogs and making 10s of thousands of pounds or helped with animal welfare. Dog licences only penalizes law abiding people. It wont help at all.
Wendy Sayer
01:05:08
Can’t see how dog licenses will help.
Jennifer Shipside
01:05:16
Several questions about the legality of fighting back if someone tries to take your dog...
Nikki West
01:05:41
definitely Jennifer I'd like to know that
Nikki West
01:05:53
coz I would fight back
Wendy Sayer
01:06:00
The question there re fighting back is the use of reasonable force
Nikki West
01:06:04
my yellow lab is my world
Maxine Webb
01:06:16
Ban metal hooks outside shops that encourage dogs being tied up and left. Dogs also now being stolen out of locked cars, gardens. Vans following owners back to their property when out walking their dogs
Hille Harris
01:06:17
dog licenses yes! the fee needs to be appropriate and the license needs to be displayed - similar to previous car tax discs. this also needs to be monitored and failure of a license need to have consequences. This works to some degree in Germany and other European countries - worth sharing the effectiveness
Rosemarie Randell
01:06:22
'Reasonable force' I guess
Michelle Commons
01:06:24
If it is law to have a dog licence that is paid for with the chip of the pet on it x duplication would be difficult as would forgery x making vets see the licence when treating the animal x certainly would make it more difficult for it’s time theives
Nikki West
01:06:29
that's why we'd like them to address about fighting back
Michelle Commons
01:06:37
Thieves*
Natalia Di Pietro
01:07:02
my question is: do these rewards for stolen dogs work? we never hear how stolen dogs are actually found in many incidences. Is it because a cash reward has been given?
Angela Lashbrook
01:07:15
does the increase in dog thefts correlate with the increasing financial price of purchasing dogs?
Wendy Sayer
01:07:52
Are the police going to then have to scan and check the dog licences ?
Natalia Di Pietro
01:07:54
lucyslaw is not enforced on the online selling platforms
Mei Chan
01:08:01
Whatever measure/s are introduced need to be self sufficient as much as possible - no one is going to back policing resources as communities all want the rapists, paedophiles, etc to be stopped, etc which the police already struggle with
Nikki West
01:08:10
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for ASSAULT?
Nicki Rose
01:08:14
The laws on dog breeding need to be further strengthened to stop irresponsible breeders and there needs to be government investment in enforcement of the licensing regulations. It is too easy to steal then sell a dog and too few officers to enforce
Simon Lilley
01:08:49
cap the price of dogs stop free advertising licence for dog owners
Natalia Di Pietro
01:09:09
thee publis don't seem to know or care about Lucyslaw. Otherwise all these illegally imported and stolen puppies wouldn't sell
Wendy Sayer
01:09:29
Thanks Daniel
Deborah Hemsley
01:09:30
What I think is worrying is that there are ways and means of changing the owner details on micro chipping. A specific incident where a kennels fostered two dogs on behalf of owner while they were undergoing medical treatment and owner paid costs of food etc. The kennel then tried to extort a lot of money charging extra boarding charges and owner offered to meet half way the kennel changed the details on the chips and kept moving the dogs around it was only because of the high publicity of naming and shaming the breeder and kennels and Devon and Cornwall boxer rescue acting as mediator the dogs were returned. Police did not want to know as the chip details had been changed without owners permission
Linda Stevenson
01:10:10
I majority of people sadly don't know they can be buying from a puppy farm, we recently heard about a young family who drove to another part of the UK to buy a puppy, they've only had it a month the puppy is 13 weeks old, the reason they bought the puppy was because it was being kept in dirty condidtion they paid £3000 and are tryiing to rehome it, they had never had a dog on their life
Rosemarie Randell
01:10:27
Lovely dogs!
Jane Millard
01:10:37
So sorry I have to go! THANK YOU so much for this, I shall keep an eye on all this :)
Nikki West
01:10:40
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for ASSAULT?
Deborah Gornik
01:10:41
How seriously is related criminal activity involving stolen dogs being taken in to consideration
Nicki Rose
01:10:45
Do we know why dogs are stolen. Sale? Breeding? Baiting? If we know what the reasons are we can better stop the theft.
Natalia Di Pietro
01:10:59
I wld like to ask Matt Coe, why the MET police took 8 months to hand back Peggy to the owner? A seized dog from the Orpington Raid
Nikki West
01:11:28
good question
Alice Neal
01:11:48
I’m a dog home boarder. It’s a legally regulated and licenced activity. I queried with our animal welfare officer and he tells me charities are not regulated or inspected so how would one find a genuine charity and prevent money making by “so called” charities importing from Romania for example.
Mei Chan
01:11:58
Agreed - plus a lot of high value 'puppy farms' don't appear as per puppy farms, dirty etc. The money means the breeders are extremely clever and use vet checks and papers etc - who wouldn't make the effort when you can earn £6-8k per puppy
Linda Stevenson
01:12:09
Sorry lost the sound Matt
Maxine Webb
01:12:28
Lucy's Law introduced April 2020 about buying direct from the breeder- no third party should be involved, but this has already been side stepped by puppy sellers, which I won't detail on here for obvious reasons
Nikki West
01:12:39
it says dog theft remains at low volume, wtf?
Hille Harris
01:12:57
is the Yorkshire and humber police force affiliated to OPAL ?????
Natalia Di Pietro
01:13:09
Nikki, its not always reported, therefore not counted
Gale Cooke
01:13:31
Could it be made mandatory that every time a dog goes to vets the microchip is scanned
Alvin Scott
01:13:45
How can you secure your garden when you are not allowed a fence higher than one meter between your front garden and the road?
Nikki West
01:13:58
that's awful. They should look at how many people have signed the petitions
Nikki West
01:14:19
& go by that
Natalia Di Pietro
01:14:21
Alvin, you don't let your dog out unattended
Nikki West
01:14:53
If someone is trying to steal my dog from me & I fight back will the owner get in trouble for ASSAULT?
Mary Bottomley
01:14:59
we have put cctv up
Linda Stevenson
01:15:16
I look forward to helping to sharing this in the area I live in because if we simply complain about the past we can moved forward for the future. Thank you will catch up with this later. Linda Stevenson from Weymouth Dorset
Katerina Roberts
01:15:16
Are the dog thieves part of organised gangs or are they operating as individuals
Nikki West
01:15:27
both
Natalia Di Pietro
01:15:43
Nikki, you wont get prosecuted if you say you felt your life was threatened
Maxine Webb
01:16:04
Matt Coe the Police rarely give you a crime number and if they do its only a four digit ref.number not a nine digit crime number
Carrie Wagner
01:16:26
Thank you for an informative Webinar. Unfortunately I have to leave now but will watch the rest later. Could there perhaps be another Webinar in the future to keep people updated on progress etc
Nikki West
01:16:28
yes I know that but I was just wondering what would happen if you were trying to protect your dog from being taken
Michelle Commons
01:16:35
I have to leave. I just wanted to say dog licensing is something that should be paid for and reintroduced ASAP & I wear a body cam it’s for prevention (hopefully puts potential thieves off) & if they’re brave enough to take my dog (I’m a 5’2 red headed female) 😉
Wendy Sayer
01:16:38
You hear of stolen dogs being sent abroad, should more checks be made at the UK border crossings, Euro Tunnel, etc
Rosemarie Randell
01:16:41
so you get a crime ref no from 101 - is dog theft not a 999 call then?
Nikki West
01:16:42
& mentioning that to old bill
Jovie McMillan
01:17:14
999 call if imminent danger
Natalia Di Pietro
01:18:31
too many people think because there is cctv, their dog is fine tied up outside a shop! some people are so naïve it seems
Maxine Webb
01:18:55
Dogs are taken and moved hundreds of miles away and even go through ferry ports. The port authorities should be checking dog passports, which the ports have actually admitted they don't check!
Nikki West
01:19:09
yes definitely
Nicki Rose
01:19:49
Fixed penalties for microchip offences are needed. The regs are too resource intensive to enforce
Mary Bottomley
01:19:56
with guide dogs you have a contract between guide dogs and blind person
Nikki West
01:20:03
CAN YOU PLEASE SPEAK ABOUT FIGHTING BACK?
Raymond Ings
01:20:11
The case of having pet threat as a distinct offence is overwhelming. Pets are not property they are sentient and members of the family. Precident already set with Finns law
Maxine Webb
01:20:28
A microchip registration is NOT PROOF of ownership according to the authorities
Simon Lilley
01:20:29
I'm sorry but our girls were taken from the rear of our property with no access from the adjacent road other than coming across fields letting live stock out on the way clearly planned not opertunist. three other attempts in same area.
Natalia Di Pietro
01:21:19
don't let strangers take photos with your dog
Daniel Allen
01:21:21
microchips currently proof of keepership rather than ownership
Maxine Webb
01:21:58
Organised gangs take the 'opportunity' when it arises but Dog theft is an organised crime
Nikki West
01:22:04
CAN YOU PLEASE SPEAK ABOUT FIGHTING BACK??
Wendy Sayer
01:22:34
What breeds are thought of as “valuable”
John Hayward-Cripps - NWN CEO
01:22:38
Nikki - we will ask when Matt has finished
Nicki Rose
01:22:57
Doesn't need kc. Look for licensed breeder
Nikki West
01:23:00
that would be good thank you
Karen Woods
01:23:15
Really positive experience when I used the Police website to report suspicious activity online - a small group taking photos of my dog, prompt acknowledgement and a crime ref no. Thank you
Amy Styles-Jones
01:23:22
Nikki - you're asking about self defence. You can google this. It's not specific to dog theft, but a concept that you can look up in general terms.
emma locke
01:23:25
do the kennel club register breeders of cross breeds that are really popular right now. I didn't think they did.
Natalia Di Pietro
01:23:31
KC registered breeders dont have checks. just because a dog is KC registered doesn't mean anything. Also, breeders are not KC registered, the dogs are
Maxine Webb
01:23:37
Why deal drugs when you get years inside jail when you can steal a dog and get 3k
Natalia Di Pietro
01:23:49
only assured KC registered breeders have checks
Nikki West
01:23:54
Amy this is in regards to dog theft actually
Rosemarie Randell
01:23:55
Thank you Matt
David Alder
01:23:55
Can pets get DNA identity to prove ownership?
Mei Chan
01:24:12
Most breeds considered as valuable now - generally its just the mongrels as you'd find in rescues that are not 'valuable'
Karen Woods
01:24:12
In respect of dogs and shops, as I often shop alone is there a rule/law about taking them in with you?
Jane Holmes
01:24:40
Great idea David Alder, register with microchip and vet
Nikki West
01:24:43
Thank you
Natalia Di Pietro
01:24:53
people should ONLY buy from licenced breeders,
Rosemarie Randell
01:25:29
or rescues!
Maxine Webb
01:25:49
What reasonable force can you use when you get a van with 3 or 4 blokes jump out a van and take your dog?
Natalia Di Pietro
01:26:05
Karen, if you can put your dog in one of those dog packs, I think you can take them in a shop
Nikki West
01:26:42
dog packs?
Natalia Di Pietro
01:26:59
Rosearie, yes, I wld never buy a dog anyway but you just can't persuade some people to rescue from a registered rescue.
Natalia Di Pietro
01:27:39
Too many people think buying a dog is like buying a car...the higher the price, the better the dog. How wrong is this in sooo many instances
isabel masey
01:27:39
Can the campaign look at asking more shops to allow dogs to enter - not just aid dogs?
Mei Chan
01:27:44
Shops control their own entry - e.g. are per covid and mask wearing so is at their discretion largely other than certain chain stores such as John Lewis, etcHowever if one person complains you have to exit
Elizabeth Kerridge
01:27:54
You say unattended in a car- are windows being broken or just left unlocked?
Aneka Patel
01:28:10
would you recommend to never take your dog off lead when out for a walk in a park for example?
Steph Carpenter
01:28:15
It's been really reassuring to hear the police are taking an interest in this
Mary Bottomley
01:28:20
i disagree with you because i know of couple guide dogs who were cut
Natalia Di Pietro
01:28:55
Emma, KC register the dogs, not the breeder
Nikki West
01:30:02
Natalia, what are those dog packs you were referring too?
Natalia Di Pietro
01:31:11
Nikki, I dont know what they are called. They are like dog back packs but I strongly suggest u get one where the pack hangs on your front, not back
Nikki West
01:31:59
oh are you on about the carrier's like you put a baby in?
Natalia Di Pietro
01:32:22
Nikki, yes, but ones designed for dogs
Natalia Di Pietro
01:32:45
or a dog in a dog pram
Nikki West
01:32:54
might have a slight problem with that, my dog is a 43kg lab
Nikki West
01:33:15
I can't even pick him up normally lol
Natalia Di Pietro
01:33:25
Nikki, lol, u can use a dog pram? or leave ur dog at home when you shop
Andrew Fox-Smith
01:34:28
Does crime stoppers have a phone app?
Mary Bottomley
01:34:56
can you report a incident week after it happened
kelly John
01:35:11
excellent thank you Annabelle could we have the link to that video please i would like to share on social media platforms
Maxine Webb
01:35:12
Crimestoppers would not take my information because it did not relate to a specific crime. So if you know that a particular person is committing crime you can't report it this way
Nikki West
01:35:13
don't think they make prams for dogs that big lol. yes I do leave him at home when I have to go out & I only take him with me if I have someone else with me to wait with him while out side the shop but always make sure I can see them both through the shop door/window
Denise Young
01:35:25
I had no idea Crimestoppers was so amazing.
isabel masey
01:35:29
If Crimestoppers cannot contact you again, can the information ever be used as evidence?
Natalia Di Pietro
01:36:19
i need to follow crimestoppers on twitter
John Hayward-Cripps - NWN CEO
01:36:33
Information to Crimestoppers is intelligence not evidence
Pamela Moriarty
01:36:39
have to leave now but thank you all - very helpful and informative
Karen Woods
01:38:28
Just googled the back (front) pack pet carriers - hilarious, may just get away with it with my little man is 10kg but not your lab!
Nikki West
01:39:09
🤣🤣 no I didn't think so lol. thanks Karen ☺️
Steph Carpenter
01:39:24
The problem is, once you see them its hard to walk away
Natalia Di Pietro
01:39:56
Annabelle, there is a known puppy farm locally to me, under the watch of Surrey Police. Dogs kept in cruel conditions, police and council aware since last summer. One of the breeding dogs escapes a lot and is in a terrible stae. Owner reported escaped dog to police and police returned the dog to the puppy farmer! back to the hell hole she tried to escape from! Why? A saint bernanrd dog and her puppies are for sale on pets4homes going for 3500 each puppy! mum is starved and neglected. this upsets me sooo much
Nikki West
01:40:47
I went to view a puppy farm (didn't know till I got there) as hard as it was I walked away then found my lab with a KC registered breeder. I was going to report it but I lost the address
Steph Carpenter
01:41:05
Thank you, I have to go but this webinar has been really reassuring
Melissa Svensen-Davies
01:41:07
Pets4Homes is a hot-bed for puppy farms.

Hi Annabelle, I have a YouTube channel called Kat and Dog, with over 2 million views and almost 3K subscribers. It is all about my German Shepherd Rocky and our mission is to support other dog owners, and through this help keep dogs out of shelters. I would love to speak to you about doing a video for my channel on this topic. I feel that this message needs to be amplified! It is terrifying what is happening at the moment!
Maxine Webb
01:42:49
The information is already out there on the groups and individuals who are thieves but police won't get involved
Alvin Scott
01:42:55
Thank you Annabelle for a really interesting and professional presentation!
Nikki West
01:43:19
it was about 5yrs ago now so don't know if it's even worth reporting, especially without the address. i was shocked to see this empty house like it was being completely gutted refurbished etc with boxes of 4 in a line with boards separating each dog breed & with sawdust chucked in in each square
Nikki West
01:43:34
it was in reading Berkshire
