What is the breakdown between the "affluent" area and the less affluent?
Paul - thanks good question. This slide shows a bit about that affluent vs less affluent
Does this demographic describe the 20% in the city increase in the past five years.
We can use the map I showed earlier as well, to help break down the various neighborhoods
I think it would be more useful for planning purposes and more informative to candidates if we also broke down our demographics to include percent African AMerican and percent Hispanic. The outreach process is likely to be very different for those two populations.
Thanks Brett and Liz. Great recommendation!
The sermon preference is clearly a john and Kelly effect, both very strong sermon givers.
My session was all ushers and greeters :-)
I didn’t know there was an usher focus group … I would have attended if I’d known
It was pure coincidence
Do we have a good answer when a candidate asks how it is that our numbers continue to slyrocket while our pledging units have not budged for the past three years? I think we will get that question.
If we stay mostly virtual for the first year or more of the new pastor's tenure, he/she will face an extraordinary challenge in getting to know the congregation and lead it and grow it under those circumstances. Has the committee given much to what particularl skills and vision the person will need in order to thrive under those circumstances? The person who gives a clear vision of how they will lead while we are still largely virtual is a person we will need to seriously consider. Conversely, if they have no thoughtful answer to that, maybe that is not the right person.
What were they thought on worship/music styles? Did that come up (in more groups than the choir)?
Excellent work! This is a hug and important initiative. Thank you team for all of your heard work!!!
Do we have a deadline for hiring, or can we wait until the pandemic is over?
Is there discernment or thoughts about hiring before or after a new Bishop?
We can pray for the process.
Kate has a good point in that the search committee and Vestry are not representative of most of the congregation.
everyone is on mute
but please raise hand to be un muted
You can unmute yourself at the left hand bottom of the screen.
Thank you so much to the Search Committee for all your efforts and for keeping us informed about the progress you've made!
Follow up to my question - more than music, anything about high church/low church? My question was more about are we asking a rector to be more traditional? Less? Both?
I'm sorry everyone, I'm going to have to scoot. Thank you for organizing this. I know how much it helps what we're going through at the moment. Thank you.
Mark, we skipped over one of my questions above, would like to come back to it at the end if there is time.
That may be a better question for the vestry and staff.
can you uinmute me?
you should be able to unmute
please stay on mute if you are not the speaker
thanks for your help
Thank you for the update. I appreciate the Search Committee’s hard work and have faith that the Holy Spirit will send us the right rector.
I would just add that this circumstance of hiring during CoVID distancing is not unique to the parish, as some of our past challenges have been. All enterprises large and small are innovating and learning how to do things differently --including hiring. I trust that the collective experience of the Search Committee (and the parish) will be leveraged as we get to the point of talking with candidates about how to meet the present challenge.
Thanks for the update
Sally, I feel a bit marginalized too due to not having a family.
the Vestry and search committee must be commended for representing all members of the congregation. it is difficult to do this time consuming task in a completely volunteer position. the process takes time and trust
