Greetings. I'm writing about disappearing grasslands in Minnesota, and the many impacts of that loss on wildlife, water quality and carbon sequestration. Two questions: What would you say would be the single most effective/important tool for changing this ongoing conversion. And what's the argument to make my general reader care about the frightening decline in grassland birds such as the Leconte’s Sparrow, Greater Prairie Chicken, Meadowlark and Marbled Godwits.

Check out USAID STOP Spillover (www.stopspillover.org), a new One Health project focused on mitigating the risk of spillover of zoonotic viruses (focus on avian influenza, coronoviruses, Ebola/Marburg, Lassa Fever, Nipah) from animals to people. We're looking at the whole spillover ecosystem (ecology, epidemiology (health, wildlife), social and behavior change, gender, food/ag, economics, policy, et al.) Internews and the Earth Journalism Network are important partners in this consortium. I need to drop off but thanks for great presentations and resources!
