our CCRSP funds only covered 15% of JUST our lost tuition from March to July
Kim McKenney
31:34
CRSP Funds covered a small portion as well for us - need more funding so we can stop surviving and work on rebuilding
Fire Tablet
33:35
I agree with Kim. Watching the bank account decrease weekly is very scary
C Jury
34:07
cjury@salemfamilyresources.org CRSP Funds covered a small portion of our tuition loss- mandatory close, from March to Sept 2 We have more than half our prior registered (FEB) students actually came back/attending- less than half tuition expected Sept-Dec
Melissa
34:23
Funds covered a small portion of lost revenue. Parents are also getting extremely frustrated with the illness guidelines, especially with runny noses.
Donna Hajjar
35:28
I am unable to see the poll. We are down 20% enrollment due to the fears of covid that parents have.
katelyn Dennis
36:43
staff is the big issue, parents recruiting teachers and paying them $25-$35 hourly to do virtual learning or care in home in our communities. We are open in schools assisting with virtual learning, but I cannot take anymore kids until we have more staff. One of our centers has 5 of 17 classrooms closed due to lack of qualified staff..
Christiane
36:50
Our center based program is only about 50% enrolled, before and after school is at 60% Parents are nervous about enrolling children in group settings
Kitty Larochelle
37:08
we need a review of the new absence payment policy for the scholarship program please...with children out a week at a time, we can not bill leaving a big responsibility for families
Melissa
37:40
I agree Kitty!
Marianne Barter
37:42
I agree, Kitty. Lets talk about this
Jennifer Briggs
39:08
children absent for testing related to surgery are not covered.
Jennifer Briggs

Mary

Jennifer Briggs
40:34
It was such a nice surprise to receive my letter last night!
Donna Johnson
42:37
Are there any updates on the NHYEP?
Mimi
42:53
When will the overall "ask" from programs be available to see?
Laura Elliott Johnson
42:59
Our biggest hurdle right now is finding qualified compassionate staffing. We are waitlisting in every age group due to lack of staffing not lack of classroom space.
Jennifer Briggs
43:25
agreed!
Rochester Child Care
43:27
Have we used all of the $25 million? It hard to ask for more if we havent used all of the first grant.
Lynn Ouellette
45:28
Ours covered 14.7% of our losses. We haven't heard about round 2 yet for our program?
Kitty Larochelle
46:11
a lot of time and energy has gone in to approving new programs who were not in child care before and we should have been the priority. some of us may not survive...
mary hollis
46:17
We are still experiencing income loss now, due to the way the schools are operating, in addition to the loss last spring…
Amy Brooks
46:41
For Mary Jane, I was speaking to a legislator that there is 600 million left of the 1.2 B yet to be allocated. How/where/who/when are child care providers speaking about the funding needs!
mary hollis

Jackie Cowell, Early Learning NH

Thank you, Amy and Mary Jane!
Jackie Cowell, Early Learning NH
54:31
Thanks, Donna, for the link!
Laura Elliott Johnson
54:33
there is so much added work for that type of billing!!
Mimi
55:10
Thanks Donna! When you get to the "Transparency Map" go to "Filter by Fund Name" and scroll down to NH Childcare Recovery and Stabilization Program
Darlene Cordaro
56:29
Where do you get the paper forms?
Krystal
57:25
do you include before and after school billing on the paper form too?
Darlene Cordaro

I notice that some businesses touting they are "licensed" to operate a school age program.
Darlene Cordaro
01:06:35
I never received an email
Jackie Cowell, Early Learning NH
01:07:39
Cellissa, you are the host now, can you unmute me?
Francesca Trial
01:08:32
I'm sorry. I missed the first bit.. If we are licensed, and have the waiver for school age more than 5 hours - we do not need to do anything re 'remote learning' designation?
Mary
01:11:12
Thank you Jackie!
Francesca Trial
01:11:27
thank you
JudynParkinson
01:11:33
wondering where I can get a copy of the emails related to school age care and billing, feel like I am missing some of the info
Jane
01:15:24
I have heard that children 4yrs 9mos are considered school age. Is that true? Could I than increase my numbers?
Mary
01:15:39
Those are all open programs?
Julie McConnell, Early Learning NH
01:16:32
Judy, I would suggest reaching out to Dianne Chase at DHHS for those e-mails.
Mary
01:17:06
TY!
Donna Johnson
01:25:25
There is a rumor going around Barrington that Storybook Hollow is closing. I am here to tell you we are NOT closing. We are restructuring our program.
Jennifer Briggs
01:26:00
we will be taking over our kitchen for school age but we are trying to determine how we can meet all of the needs of every student in different classes.
Marianne Barter
01:26:01
We are providing school aged programming. Space isn't an issue, but we have a crazy house of cards of staffing! We really need a couple of floats!
kiddie konnection
01:26:07
We have plenty of space but our school age program has dropped from 60 kiddos to 25. Parents are working from home or leaving their kids in the public school after school program so they do not have to go on buses
Kitty Larochelle
01:26:19
our concern is wi fi capability
JudynParkinson
01:26:38
space is fine but staffing is tricky
mary hollis
01:26:39
We are offering half days for after remote learning, and will support homework…lack of staffing prohibits us from offering full days.
Jennifer Briggs
01:27:04
we are asking families to provide a device and headset for their children. we are upgrading our network so we have a mesh network. working with our electrician
Marianne Barter
01:27:07
We bought these great boosters for $100 on amazon which made a huge difference with our wifi
mary hollis
01:27:20
We had ten to twelve children on our present wi fi without any problems..
Donna Hajjar
01:27:23
I had to increase my wifi with Comcast. The added monthly cost is 400.00.
Laura Elliott Johnson Alpha-Bits Learning Center
01:27:30
Space is not problem for us either. Staffing is the biggest issue. We are working on balancing the needs of each individual child all in different grade and schools and districts.
Francesca Trial
01:28:04
For us, it's the staffing, but also managing the different grades with different expectation but all at the same time!
Marianne Barter
01:28:11
The problem is our buildings-- they are spread out so we have dead spots in the building. The boosters let us have wifi in all these areas.
Francesca Trial
01:28:20
We got a booster down here and it hopefully will work well
Lynn Ouellette
01:28:35
Staffing is an issue. It is hard to find good people. We have found a couple but they are far and few between.
kiddie konnection
01:28:45
Recommendation on booster?
Laura Elliott Johnson Alpha-Bits Learning Center
01:28:48
We increased our wifi as well, but since we are in a large, brick building, we also had to run cable to the classroom at a significant expense.
Jennifer Briggs
01:28:58
evo
Francesca Trial
01:29:07
Are other program requiring masks for school age?
C Jury
01:29:13
Salem Family Resources- we are “on” school district internet in an old (not updated) school building and connections are terrible at best-we do not have school age full day currently. Staffing has already been impacted by their own children being sent home by school nurses; bus schedules impact staff arrival and coverage.
Marianne Barter
01:29:21
We bought an Xfinity booster-- it just plugs into an outlet.
Marianne Barter
01:29:47
If you go on amazon and put wifi booster in the search it should bring you right there.
Julie Rothemund
01:29:52
Yes, masks
C Jury
01:29:53
We are in masks for ALL children, ages 2- 5 and all staff
Christiane
01:30:00
We are requiring masks for both chlldren and staff - following school dept guidance
mary hollis
01:30:04
Yes masks in side, not outdoors
Jennifer Briggs
01:30:24
we are only accepting students who exclusively attend our school. we are not requiring masks
JudynParkinson
01:31:01
I am not clear about the billing issue for school age children, feel like I may have missed some emails.
liz
01:31:13
Yes, assistant teacher waivers.
Lorry Porter
01:31:32
so true!
rcabc
01:31:35
I agree with Marianne!
mary hollis
01:31:35
Same with us…no responses to our ads
Melyssa Paul
01:31:43
YES!!! 100% agree about these staffing issues! and qualifications
Lisa Doyon
01:31:51
I'd like to hear about the runny nose guidelines about having them get a covid test before returning back to day care
Jodi
01:31:51
I agree with the staffing....extremely hard and discouraging waivers are needed to survive...
Jennifer Briggs
01:31:57
staffing is an extreme issue! we need a broader staffing g base who can work with us. I agree! a port in the storm is about right.
Lorry Porter
01:32:44
how about on the job training along with some assistance from the NH College System to educate and train our assistants to become Associates???
Melissa Clement
01:33:02
CCLU is regularly reviewing and approving waivers for staff qualifications. We can't do an automatic waiver but we do regularly approve them.
Jodi
01:33:17
no responses to our ads either...spent lots of money advertising...
JudynParkinson
01:33:22
cannot see poll
Alyssa Lavoie
01:33:22
Agree with the staffing issues and need to look into exceptions right now to required qualifications. We are getting nothing and we are in an area there is not much competition since there are very few daycare centers around here. We are almost 100% full but struggling with staffing
Melyssa Paul
01:33:55
what sort of waivers are available regarding staff qualifications?
Lorry Porter
01:34:00
I am turning kids away due to lack of staff.
Laura Elliott Johnson Alpha-Bits Learning Center
01:34:48
Our staff was extremely grateful for the award money that was offered to them before. (The additional $4.00 per hour hazard pay.) Perhaps offering that again through outside funding.
Lynn Ouellette
01:34:49
There are no responses to ads or they respond and don't show up. I've had a couple I wouldn't hire even if they told me they'd enroll in classes. Sorry if that sounds terrible.
Kitty Larochelle
01:35:01
Staffing is a real concern. I have some very hard working assistants who we rely on each day. WE need to validate their importance in our organizations
Donna Hajjar
01:35:32
We are using our current space for school age children but will open a new location if needed.
Lorry Porter
01:35:50
I paid my staff an extra $5 out of my loan $$. never received any funds allocated for extra
Lynn Ouellette
01:35:51
I have been send my staff thank you notes and other kudos weekly as I can't afford to lose anyone.
Francesca Trial
01:36:20
off topic of school age. Question re: health policy. We just sent a child home with a cough. They are getting tested - does that require the staff to quarantine until results are in? What are other centers doing?
Francesca Trial
01:36:42
oh how funny.. I should've waited a few second
Melyssa Paul
01:37:46
my understanding is staff do not need to quarantine unless a positive result comes back...when in doubt call 211 for guidance of specific situations
liz
01:37:59
how many people have had a case of Covid in there center, student or staff??
Francesca Trial
01:38:06
Thank you Melyssa, I forget about 211
Lynn Ouellette
01:38:25
I have called 211 and they are excellent at helping with the difficult decisions
mary hollis
01:38:42
No Covid here! Thank goodness…
MaryEllen Schule
01:38:51
Karen Darling from Red Oak Montessori School was not able to join our call today as she is a Director/Teacher and is in the classroom right now. Here is what she wanted to share with us all today about what she is experiencing:"I'm sure I'm not the only childcare director who is also the main teacher -- I don't have the luxury of joining a conversation during the day!! I am at school from 7am to 6pm (children only here 8am-3:30pm), with a 10-minute lunch break only because a mother who picks up her child at noon is giving each of us a short break at that time. I cannot even start administrative tasks until 4:30 or 5pm. My assistant teacher and I spend about 2 1/2 hours extra cleaning at the end of each day. We barely have time to breathe, don't have time to brush my hair in 12 hours. Trying to hire more staff, but have had no luck so far and so little time now to even do hiring. The kids are great, parents are worried and stressed, we try to focus on providing a place of calm in the storm. That's how we
msalo
01:39:10
I agree that parents are becoming increasingly upset with our sending children home with symptoms.
Alyssa Lavoie
01:39:14
The time to be out to get a doctors note or negative test isn’t my concern. It is having to have kids and teachers quarantine for 14 days if you have a positive case. First time, fine but after that people will start leaving
Kitty Larochelle
01:39:18
I have had a few staff members who have been tested and weve waited any where from 3 days to 7 seven days for results...thank fully all negative...
Christiane
01:39:22
We have asked for Dr. notes for runny noses that may be related to allergy etc ..but heard Dr. are overwhelmed by these requests
JudynParkinson
01:39:43
I called 211 this week, was referred to public health. Public health says if there are any symptoms, individual must isolate or get tested.
Kitty Larochelle
01:39:47
less than 50 employees we are exempt from the paid 2 weeks
Melyssa Paul
01:39:54
so many challenges around that Mimi. Parents frustrated with exclusion, parents frustrated with potential exposure, staffing coverage challenges when teachers need to be excluded and tested...yet also wanting to make sure we are doing the right think to keep everyone healthy and safe!!!
Kim McKenney
01:40:08
staff will use 5 vacation days then can tap in to their extended illness bank if they do not have these they go without pay
Donna Johnson
01:40:17
We pay for the first 2 days
Jennifer Briggs
01:40:18
staff are unpaid. if we paid staff I wouldn’t be able to survive
msalo
01:40:22
I have also been told by parents that some physicians do not want to or flatly refuse to test young children
Lynn Ouellette
01:40:22
We had doctors tell parents they will not provide a note without a test.
Sue Seeley
01:40:24
No Covid here either....have had many runny noses, if a child has regular runny noses and has allergies then a dr note can allow them to stay in childcare per NH Infectious Disease
Melyssa Paul
01:40:25

msalo
01:41:16
No positives at our center - knock on wood.
Christiane
01:41:31
Does anyone know how a program is reimbursed for staff paid under FFCRA?
Jennifer Briggs
01:41:44
I believe our staff qualified for unemployment
Lynn Ouellette
01:41:45
Our staff use their time off and have also applied for unemployment when they've been out. In the beginning one was successful getting unemployment the other wasn't.
kiddie konnection
01:41:52
Yes it was successful. Covid related unemployment
Marianne Barter
01:42:04
Thank you-- that's very helpful!
JudynParkinson
01:42:17
public health says that rapid test are currently only available for first responders right now.
Kitty Larochelle
01:42:50
we are still not considered essential enough for rapid testing
rcabc
01:42:54
I had to quarantine for two weeks due to being tested for covid, I qualified for the full week I was out for unemployment. But I did not qualify for the other weeks because I only missed 2 days the week before and the week after.
Christiane
01:42:58

Kim McKenney

Alyssa Lavoie
01:43:09
Our parents are reporting pediatricians being very difficult to deal with in regards to a note or test even with symptoms which is frustrating since its the dept of health issuing these orders not our personal policies
Melissa
01:43:14
What are centers ding as far as charging families tuition when a child is out multiple days/ times due to Covid symtoms?
Jennifer Briggs
01:43:29
families are charged full amount
Kim McKenney
01:43:42
Families still pay tuition since we are still having expenses
Lynn Ouellette
01:43:54
families are charged their full weekly cost
Jennifer Briggs
01:44:14
families are paying full cost
Melyssa Paul
01:44:31
families pay, like any other absence due to illness
Christiane
01:44:33
We are not charging families when we ask them to stay home due to COVID concerns, but have still had families pull children out
Alyssa Lavoie
01:45:06
We just had our first positive case within the center. Today is the final day of the 14 day quarantine. There was no spread, but we had to have 2 teachers and 9 students quarantine for 14 days. We continued to charge tuition and pay the 2 teachers, but I can promise you those parents will not do that a second or third time. We will need to revisit our policy
Melyssa Paul
01:45:08
if they had to be out because there was an exposure and we had to close the room then they would not be charged

Can we determine if the tests done at home are valid and useful ? and where to purchase them?
Jennifer Ensign
01:45:36
We’re keeping our group sizes under 10 in order to protect our business when someone in one cohort is positive.
Melissa
01:45:56
I have all infants and toddlers so runny noses happen all the time for multiple reasons. The guidelines say new and unexplained, what time frame is everyone using for this. For example 3 weeks in between each occurance? Lastly when a child has a runny nose do you send home immediately or due you monitor frequency/ intensity etc.?
Lynn Ouellette
01:46:14
This is such a difficult topic. We keep families informed of the policies and we have stayed strict on them. It is so hard to tell families they have to be out but we tell them it is for the safety of everyone.
Christiane
01:46:51
We have used the terminology "symptom free" to attend
Lorry Porter
01:47:13
who do we contact about the excel spreadsheets??
Marianne Barter
01:47:20
We are just honest and tell parents our hands are tied on safety issues-- there are policies made by the state and we need to follow them. They seem to understand.
Lorry Porter

I would say 90% of our families understand and appreciate all we are doing to ensure the health and safety of everyone...The frustration they have is not with us but rather the nature of Covid and what is required in regards to testing and exclusion. They are just so frustrated that we all have to deal with this..not our policies or enforcement of them
