She made the move from traditional engineering to environmental and climate change issues over 15 years ago and has since worked in government, policy, management and strategic consulting and the financial industry. Most recently, Joy applied all her previous experience establishing the responsible investing framework and acting as the in-house climate change subject matter expert at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. Working across asset classes including private equity, infrastructure, real estate, credit and public equities, she helped to integrate environmental, social and governance practices in investment teams. She chaired the Decarbonization Advisory Panel for the $209.1 billion New York State Common Retirement Fund. Joy is a Professional Engineer of Ontario and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. Lisa Eichler (Co-head, Climate & ESG Solutions @Ortec Finance) In 2018 Lisa – together with her co-head Willemijn Verdegaal – have been tasked to build up the team and innovate climate and broader ESG solutions to complement the traditional Ortec Finance offerings. Over the past three years she has built a successful team of 12 people and innovated a product compass containing five solutions that help clients navigate a changing climate. Lisa has focused her studies and career (15+ years) on facilitating interactions between science and policy focusing on topics relevant for the transition towards a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. Prior to joining Ortec Finance, Lisa worked as a consultant for various companies implementing projects for European institutions, national governments and international organizations on environment and sustainability issues. Lisa earned her Master of Science in Environmental Management and Masters of Arts in Global Public Policy at Duke University. Jeff Horlor (Host) (Advisor @Mantle314) Jeff works with financial institutions to help them become climate resilient by integrating climate-related risks and opportunities into their business operations, strategy, risk management and corporate disclosures. After graduating from Dalhousie University’s Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) co-op program, where he majored in finance, Jeff started his career in hedge fund administration working as an Operations Analyst helping clients with enhanced fund accounting and reporting in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Prior to joining Mantle314, Jeff worked at Responsible Investor, a UK-based financial news company focused on sustainable finance and investment, where he managed client relationships and assisted some of the world’s largest asset managers, index and research providers in marketing their ESG and sustainable investing strategies. He brings 8+ years of experience working in the financial services sector.
