Research in Action - Is the Skeleton Key to New York City's Past?
What can a skeleton tell us about life in New York City during the 19th century?

Join Meredith Ellis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Anthropology in the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters at FAU, as she discusses unearthing more than 200 skeletons -- 86 children -- from burial vaults associated with a radical abolitionist church in lower Manhattan.

Meredith shares her findings, including the stories about the children's lives, which are the subject of her 2019 book "The Children of Spring Street: The Bioarchaeology of Childhood in a 19th Century Abolitionist Congregation."
