She’s been policy making, coalition building, and working with communities to improve public health and safety for years. Born and raised in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago, Collins’s community was impacted by gun violence, failing healthcare systems, lack of economic opportunity, and closed neighborhood schools. With her community in mind, she’s worked to fight against systemic issues of poverty and neglect and to take her activism into Congress.
