Anatomy of the Hand
This webinar is about basic anatomy of the hand. We will present bones, joints, extrinsic muscle insertions and intrinsic muscles of the hand and their innervation.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Name bones and joints of the hand
- Understand ligaments of MCP & IP joints
- Recognise 2 vascular arches of the hand
- Describe nerve supply to skin of the hand
- Describe thenar, hypothenar, lumbrical & interossei muscles’ function & nerve supply

Nicola Massy-Westropp
Occupational Therapist & Senior Lecturer @University of South Australia
Nicola started as an occupational therapist working with people with upper limb conditions, and became interested in research about upper limb rehabilitation. She now teaches anatomy and upper limb rehabilitation at the University of South Australia and now supervises students in their research projects about upper limb rehabilitation.
Colette Massy-Westropp
Medical Intern @Royal Adelaide Hospital
Collette is currently an intern at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in South Australia. She attended medical school at the University of Adelaide, where she enjoyed clinical rotations in both metropolitan and rural hospitals. Prior to graduating in 2020, she worked as a research assistant and tutor at the Washington University in St Louis, USA, where she was born. My goal is to undertake surgical training and to eventually experience working as a doctor in a variety of hospitals, both overseas and in Australia.
