Mindfulness for Coping with Cancer: What Is It and How Can It Help?
Dr. Linda Carlson, PhD, of the Department of Oncology at the Cummings School of Medicine, will introduce the concept of mindfulness and mindfulness meditation, and provide a summary review of the scientific literature on the benefits of mindfulness for people with cancer. Dr. Linda Carlson, PhD, R. Psych., is a professor in the Department of Oncology at the Cummings School of Medicine in Calgary, Canada, and adjunct professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Psychosocial Oncology Research as well as President-Elect of the Society for Integrative Oncology. Dr. Carlson is the author of two books: The Art and Science of Mindfulness, and Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery. She is the author of numerous scientific publications and has received many awards for her work.
