Topic
Dynamic Adaptive Scheduling
Description
Is it time to move beyond Make-to-Stock versus Make-to-Order?
We have long heard how manufacturers need to respond faster. This is usually interpreted as shorter lead-times and making inventory turn quicker in response to customer demand.
Above this current climate of supply chain shortages, pandemic recovery/another COVID wave and rising input prices, storm-clouds gather over the world economy. Perhaps it is not enough for manufacturers to respond quickly to every order. Now, they need to adapt to the changing nature of the way they receive orders.
Replenishment systems like DDMRP are good at responding to orders and adjusting the size of buffers when the rate of demand changes. But the decision about which items to buffer is usually only revised periodically. This may not be fast enough for changing conditions.
Here is one solution. A dynamic Adaptive Schedule will have the flexibility to switch between make-to-order and replenishment. And because no-one has the time or money for software companies to create such a system, we have built one in Excel! In this webinar we would like to show it to you. And share it with you.
Here is what you will learn:
-- How Make-to-Stock versus Make-to-Order may be an outdated question
-- How we could answer the question "How much stock should I have?" with "Zero!"
-- The one thing about planning roles that means we end up with unnecessary stock.
-- How a Dynamic Adaptive Schedule can be built in Excel. And how to use your copy.
All attendees will receive a copy of the Dynamic Adaptive Schedule example. It is as simple as we can make it, but we do need to explain how it works. And answer your questions about how it can work for you. So please register for this event and then join us live for an interactive event.
