Often when people are introduced to the Enneagram, they only learn the nine points as if they were nine random collections of traits. There is some value in learning the type descriptions to be sure, but a lot of the power of the system comes to life when we understand those nine points as part of a meaningful whole—AND that these nine parts are arranged in significant ways. In this class we will look at the deeper teachings about the symbol itself, exploring the meaning of the symbol and the way the ideas connected with the symbol weave their way through our philosophical and spiritual traditions. We will look at how the Enneagram especially helps us learn to live with paradox, and to hold the awareness of “the many” and “the one” at the same time. We see how the unity of reality manifests itself in the various forms and experiences of life. We will look also at the pardox/relationship between stillness and dynamism—both being aspects of the unity of reality.
After the 60 minute talk, there will be approximately 30 minutes for question and answer.
